Regarding your RX for insulin - is it now covered under the medical? I know sometimes its under RX and sometimes under medical.
Good for you taking steps for your new business - great to have a goal to strive for.
Yes, God is carrying all of us - he is wonderful.
Love Hugs and Prayers :-)
I have an idea for your cake business niche.... I know someone suggested catering to people who are gluten free and I think that is a great idea.... but also since you have so much experience with diabetes could you make cakes that are for diabetics.... sugar free or low sugar or all natural sweetener or fruit or something like that????
Regarding your swelling feet, my doctor said sometimes prednisone can cause foot swelling, or maybe another one of your meds. Sometimes when my feet swell a lot I soak them in cold water and that helps. I also put them up the wall, lay on my back with my legs leaning up the wall, it helps everything flow back into my torso and then eventually work it's way out of my body.
Enjoy the birth of your new grand baby, mine will be two years old in a few weeks, it's an exciting time, enjoy each moment!
Maruska
I have been off for awhile as well..but I will try to get back to being on here once a day at least!
I've missed everyone!
Maruska I have decided to make churches my niche market to begin with, focusing on the Sunday dinner dessert. Florida's new Cottage law, which governs the baking and selling from the home is very strict. No dairy such as cream cheese can be used which cancels out my Red Velvet cake and we cannot mail products. It has to be sells directly to the consumer, face to face and we can not sell over the internet. I am going to meet with churches and have tastings and take orders during the tastings to begin with and then once I make some money I plan to go to the flea markets with my 10 yr old grand daughter and sell cakes, cookies and a Christian t-shirts that I have been working on. I am so glad that I attended the Food Industry class. It was so informative and gave me a contact who is doing the same them. I don't know if I will ever do the gluten free or anything like that because I love my old fashion recipes and am not that sure about baking with sweetners since I don't even like using them. They tend to change the taste. If someone wants to order something different I am always game to bake it for them. I normally eat very like of what I bake and when I do I trade it out for another carb. I just love the way it makes me feel to bake and to see others enjoy what I bake.
I just spoke with my son and my new grand, Chante will debut at 1pm tomorrow and I will be there with my camera. I am not that great a photographer, but hopefully I will get some decent pics that I can post. I better get back to my cleaning. The dust has piled up on my ceiling fan again and I have to figure a way to tackle it since i can't climb up on a ladder. The old fashion broom with a cover will probably do the job. I will be back later.
May the birth be smooth and amazing, such a gift!!

Congratulations on becoming a grandma soon. Best wishes to you, the baby, and mom. I'm sure your new granddaughter will love you very much.
And best wishes on your new business venture. I have always loved baking myself, and am now learning to bake gluten free. It's not difficult as it might seem. Also I use sugar substitutes such as agave nectar, coconut nectar, and stevia (all natural). If you ever choose to create GF goodies, let me know. I'd be willing to share some of the recipes I've had success with.
She is my 10th granddaughter and my 13th grandchild. I am still hoping for another grandson as the three that I have area now teens. I am being selfish in that I want them just so I can love them.
I am now going to put my feet up again and watch a little television before going to bed and reading a few pages and falling to sleep. 5am comes very early in the morning. Good night.
Oh, I figured out a way to probably get around the insurance not covering my insulin. I will let you all know if it works. I am a little smarter than they think.
I have to do mail orders prescriptions with Medco as well. It is a pain in the butt sometimes. It is great when it works but if you have problems, look out! I hope you are able to figure out a solution. I am able to get a 30 day supply at the local pharmacy but it is twice the cost for me. Maybe that is an option?
Hang in there. Thanks for keeping us posted and uplifted.
