Polymyositis (PM) is a type of chronic inflammation of the muscles (inflammatory myopathy) related to dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The inflammation is predominantly of the endomysium in polymyositis, whereas dermatomyositis is characterized by primarily perimysial inflammation.

What to do?

I am at point of both physical and mental exhaustion and not sure what to do. (To all extents and purposes I look normal.) I feel nauseous. Feel like I am going to vomit all the time. Can no longer eat without either feeling sick or getting burning swollen tongue. When I try to rest I am in so much pain I cannot stay lying down. This probably is a major flare I guess??? Because I look fine everyone just expects me to carry on. I have a constant headache which is a new symptom. I think I have been feeling so much better for so long I am in shock at how bad i am. Not sure what to do.

You need to listen to your body. We have an invisible disease so no one knows what we are really feeling. I don't recall which medications you are on. I had that severe stomach problems from the MTX pills. I moved to injection and it disappeared. I felt much better.

Tell your family and friends how you feel. I usually tell them I feel like they do when they have the flu. I have body aches, head ache, and fatigue. I would also call your doctor and let them know about your issues.

Hang in there. I'm sure it will get better.

Thank you lexisgirl. You are right maybe the stomach problems are the Imuran, though I have been on it for a long time. I am going to doctor today but he just usually refers me to specialist. At least i suppose symptoms are recorded.
