I've been diagnosed with polycythemia for 20 plus years . Recently however I've gotten serious about treating it. My doctor told me for years when my hematocrit was high that it"was fine" . Now my hematocrit is 48.7 and the doctor says it's all in my head and my life style. How do you fight that attitude?

Your HCT is within the normal range, wondering how did your doctor dignosed it as Polyisthemia at first place...what are your other counts? RBC, wbc and plattets ?

If that Doc has never had anything to deal with like this, tell him he’s a CRAP doc.
To deal with this little known cancer, you need others like you and me.
