Taken over by the artist side
The practical mind cannot reside
I need to express in excess
While daily matters increase in distress and duress

There are so many shades within this contrast
Some go unseen, under-nourished, can't last
Stay up all night to write
Fight to gain insight
This way may not be "right"
It still ignites the light
Attempting to restore sight

What I take to be in this space has become commonplace
I wonder if this alliance is fueled through reliance
Is it make-believe, self-injustice preconceived
A notion that the motion is justification
For self-destruction as means for creation and production
Is it fake or real, is it for nothing if I don't feel
What's the deal?

A handshake with high stakes
Maybe more than I should take
I don't want to be breaking
I just want to keep making

Reframe what I have from where I came
Don't want to go back or stay the same
Can you blame me for craving this flame
Resisting what could leave actions tame
