I wrote this poem during an Enviroment Project that my highschool had, I joined the poetry group but since the other few members didn't show up then I won with my poem and I was told to read this out in public in front of the whole school. ;-) It has perhaps a very despressed sound to it, but to me it was more like a symbolical perspective towards a darker future. A type of Doom Poem one can say. There is one word of mistake; I checked out the definition of "flow" and now I see that it might not fit in the way I thought it did in the past. To me I saw flow as flown away, and since this is one of my older poems I don't find it fit to change it. It would destroy the reading rhythm of the poem, and there is a charm in the way it was written. So I will continue to keep it written this way, but I wanted to make this clear for you in here. "Happiness will flow"simply means it will be flown away, it won't be there anymore.
DESTRUCTION!!
Black forest of death,
killing all life.
Hungry for a soul to hurt,
screaming for mercy.
Pain will grow,
happiness will flow.
Misfortune will laugh,
darkness will come.
The sky will cry blood,
birds will sing songs of solitude.
Loneliness will be born,
joy will disappear.
Hope will burn up,
danger will come true.
Mankind will have fear,
love will fade away.
Lies will become true,
truth will become lie.
Madness of torture,
will take over the earth.
Prayers of regret,
will not be heard anymore.
New chances,
will not exist.
Enigma of life and death,
will not be interesting.
Many did applaud and was even cheering when reading my poem out loud. ;-) I got also compliments from the headmaster, or the teacher told me she was impressed. Even a guy who was in a metalband got more interested in me, but it was very obvious to me that it was because of the poem, as he never had any interest in me earlier, he actually had broken off from the relationship he had with another girl from school, but I wasn't interested in him, and I wasn't going to become together with him just because he liked the way I wrote my poem.
This poem wasn't very positively accepted by other Christians, but I think it might have been misinterpreted by most of them. Some of them thought I had the wrong focuse, but I still think I wrote this fine, and my focuse was also in it's right place. I might just see some things a bit different, doesn't mean that my main goal or focuse when writing this poem was totally wrong nor bad.
Another friend of mine thought it was much too depressive, but this was probably because he was always very optimistic. ;-) It is sure good being optimistic, he was just never very good at understanding it when someone was having a hard time. So instead of showing a little bit of understanding or support, he would just pretend like you were doing excellent. It is great having an optimistic view and attitude in life, and I sure try my best being this way. But if a friend is going through a difficult time, then I don't want to "pretend" that this isn't happening. I might try to cheer up my friend but at the same time I will also try to show the support my friend needs at this time. If my friend can't cheer up as fast, then I will just try to help in other ways, but I will also be understanding. We all can go through rough times in life, so it is important to show some understanding as well as the support needed for the one struggling.
Anyways, we all will look at a poem in a different perspective. Some will like what you write, and some will not. Some poems will talk more to us than other poems, still, it doesn't mean that the poem is necessarily badly written if someone doesn't likes it. To me I like the way I wrote this poem, and I remember my reasons for writing it this way. So to me these thoughts are as valid as when I wrote them down.
