Last year my doctor diagnosed me with PMDD, she out me on Depo stating that if my cyles were stopped the symptoms would too. Most months it works great, no cycle, little to no syptoms. The problem is that I don't always not have my cycle. This month has been one of those months..
Two weeks ago I started getting moody, crying randomly, having panic attacks, stopped being able to sleep through the night, making little things into huge arguments with my boyfriend, no motivation at work, being exhausted all the time, my breasts hurt, ect... I almost thought I was pregnant, but I'm not. Well Monday I ended up blowing up and breaking up with my bf, I don't know why I did it, he's been the most amazing man I have ever met. Tuesday got into a argument which should have just been a discussion with my daughters babysitter and ended up having to get a new babysitter. Last night I started my period. I haven't been able to sleep or eat all week, and I'm completely heart broken over what I did. I don't know how to control my mood swings and it feels like my head is swimming with chemicals when I get upset. Is there anyways to cope or am I going to be pushing people I love away from the rest of my life?
I am so there with you, I totally feel your pain and heart break... This "illness" is so hard to cope with. The more I read and research it seems like different things work for different people and you gotta find what works for you, natural remidies, birth control, anti depressants...
Every month I go through this I come so close to leaving my husband because I feel living with or having any relationships at all are hopeless because I become this crazy mean spycho... When I feel like that all I want to do is move to Mexico and live in a hut and disappear from the whole world and cut off all my family and friends forever. But thats not living. My husband begs me to just snap out of it... How awesome it would be if it was that easy. It's something I am finding out nobody understands unless you go through it... I read someone found mediating works and yoga/excersise. I find some relief in venting about it with people who understand :) I push people away too, it's an awful lonely place to be. I hope you find something that works, let us know
:)
Sorry to hear you're in the same boat as the rest of us. I agree with anothergirl, different things work for different people, but I've been dealing with PMDD for 17 years now and I have learned that awareness is half the battle. Don't know if this will work for you, but I found it fundamentally important to consciously recognize what part of my cycle I am in and to moderate either my behavior or the amount of contact I have with people during the worst times. If your rage is definitely based on your hormonal state, then it's important to realize that it is temporary. Let the people closest to you know what's going on and when you find yourself in that state, tell them. If you have to hole up alone for a day or two each month, do it if you can. It'll be worth it to save a good relationship....and if the relationship is truly a good one, that person will understand. Tracking your cycle will be very important. They actually have smartphone apps for doing just that. In fact, I saw one that sends notifications to a list of people you choose warning them when you'll be in PMS mode. I found it kind of funny, yet also a really good idea. I hope this helps a little.....
