Hi guys. I just joined this support group because I need a community where I feel validated and less alone. I have not been officially diagnosed with PMDD, but I recently had a near life threatening few days and a near life-altering fight with my S.O.. These events, plus looking back at previous fights and mental/emotinal struggles, I see an obvious pattern. I read an article/mini-biographical story earlier this year. It brought me to my knees in tears; it resonated with me so much. But I also felt so helpless and hopeless. Learning more and more about this disorder and its effects on our lives and the lives of the people around us is overwhelming. It feels so daunting day to day. And also very scary. I look forward to getting to know this community and sharing experiences that not many understand!
Hi, I'm not always on here because some times it's more manageable than others but at other times it just seems yo creep in and before you know it your full blown and not even sure what the heck happened!
I would like to have someone to talk to as well that identify with how we are feeling because the other people who don't have to fight the Illness really have no idea what we are actually going through. I know it is so tough on our significant others also but having someone to talk to who actually understands may be very helpful.
I know those feelings all to well. Dealing with this craziness has definitely affected my relationship with my husband and its more than i can count unfortunately. Being a women, it can be so crazy with mood fluctuations especially from ovulation to when starting our period. I,m finding it starts with being more self aware of how i act and the effects it has on others.. Unfortunately there is sometimes a stigma associated with therapy but i could not stress more on how talk therapy with a counselor has helped me. People NEED to talk about these things and its nice when it can confiding in an unbiased person who is aiming to help. I have a long way to go with managing my moods etc during PMS but i try to push getting social with a friend or calling a close relative to confide in especially during this time, and with support groups like this it is very nice to know that we are not the only one dealing with this craziness. One day at a time!
