Hi....I am.new to this group. No one around me seems to understand how much pain I am in. I do have the emotional side of PMDD, but more so the fatigue and the cramps in my breasts, my back and stomach...are just so horrible..that I can hardly function...My period starts on the seventh, and today is the third. My doctor wants to put me on prozac, he says that is the best treatment for this. I told him no, and the moment. He said to use evening primrose oil, drink plenty of water and exercise. Personally..exercising when in this much pain is not easy, I do my best...but its difficult...so my question is...who here has been put on.prozac...and has it helped?? Or are you doing another kind of.treatment? I read online that magnesium and b 12 would help. Any suggestions or advice or feedback would be appreciated..thank you.
Hi! I can relate completely. Giving advice on medication is difficult because it every medication works differently on everyone. When I first went to the doctor they thought I had depression and out me in Zoloft. It was awful. It made me even worse so I got off of it and thought there wasnt ever going to be a medication to help. And for unrelated reasons I had to see a different doctor and she was the one that helped discover I had pmdd. After a lot of research she put me on Prozac. And honestly my life has done a 180. I’ve never felt happiness in my life since having my period as a teen and after the medication was able to kick in.. I truly feel happy. I still get about a week of fatigue and moody days but it’s not as bad as it used to be.
My advice to you is that it’s all about trial and error. If you try a medication and you don’t feel any different or worse talk to your doctor about getting off of it and trying something else. You’ll find what will help, even if it ends up not being medication, there is something out there that will help, it just took me a little time to find it. Don’t give up!
