I don't know how to start my story of this journey I'm on with this condition. it's a hard thing to talk about for me as it's never really been taken seriously...I've been told I'm over sensitive...or moody from the people I love. I know within myself it's because they don't really understand the complexity of the disorder but at that point...the point when the symptoms are so severe...I withdraw from everything and everybody because I feel ashamed that my brain has taken over the thoughts and feelings I have. I can't be logical...stop my anxiety...which can become so bad I don't want to leave the house. these feelings stay with me for between 14-21 days a month and when they subside...it's like I've stepped out of a fog.
even then I still remain anxious because I know I'm going to slip back into the unbearable feelings again very quickly. it's like the Jekyll and Hyde characters live inside of me and I'm struggling to cope with it.
I came here to seek advice and solice with other women who suffer from this condition mainly so I can grasp in my lowest moments that im not alone whilst receiving and offering words of support.
I feel as if we may live similar roles. My family does not understand and they typically chalk it up to moms being emotional or little crazy. only if they could really understand although I don't wish this disorder on anyone because it is really the worst. I feel like this has the capability to tear people and families apart. at least that is how it has been feeling at my house lately. I am 39 I have 4 kids all daughters (poor them) and husband he's great when I'm not ticking him off with my emotional roller coaster... I think I have been dealing with this all my life but over the last few years it just seems to be getting worse. However I would like to just find solace with other women who suffer from this disorder as well. someone to talk too would be nice and someone who understands would be nice as well
Marielou81,
I feel your pain. This disorder has been robbing us of a normal life for too long.
I wonder have you tried any SSRI? I never have but am wondering about it.
I have tried natural things like diet and exercise. But lets get real, NOTHING helps. Not really.
Im 40 this year and am starting to consider full hysterectomy. Ive been researching. Im not sure though, The numbers are less then half of women who find relief with it.
Perhaps you can speak with your doctor about treatment options. My dr just prescribed me Zoloft. If your family is struggling to understand...suggest some reading materials for them for how to support you, as well as begin understanding PMDD.
Has anyone taken medical marijuana or smoked pot during the severe PMS days? It just occurred to me that that could take the edge off of those intense days, but I've never tried it before. I would like to hear about people's experiences, if any.
My symptoms during low ovulation days are depression, verbal aggression, toxic thoughts, and often breaking up with whoever I'm dating.
I don't want to go the way of prescribed drugs. Am currently taking vitamins and St. John's Wart daily. Also working on altering my thought habits during my non-PMS days (when I do have control).
