Hi,
Someone very close to me suffers with pmdd, very badly. The struggles are real and a never ending battle. I try my hardest to comfort her and be there when things are really bad but I just feel sometimes nothing I can say or do help her, and that's all I want to do.
I'm looking to talk to anyone who suffers with pmdd and how their loved ones support them, or how sufferers benefit from certain strategies, and what they need most when they ate in there darkest points. Also anyone who is in my position and can shine a light on what they do to help those with pmdd..
Also anyone with any more information or useful places to go would be helpful. I'm located near Milton Keynes and find there's not a lot locally, so any information on anything would be grateful.
Hope fully someone will be able to help.. The struggles are real and I would give anything to be able to take some of it away.

what a lovely post - the truth is you can't dispel it. The fact you care enough to post will mean a lot to her I imagine. when she's not on it talk to her gently about how you can make it better. Its probably different for everyone. for me its someone who holds me, tells me its ok and helps with the basic things (makes dinner, drives me places because I have no spatial awareness and makes me dinner and brings me a hot water bottle. also not judging and forgiving is very important! Good luck

I suffer with PMDD and there are moments when I have panic attacks, anxiety, fatigue and all that comes with having PMDD. It helps me when my loved one can realize that I am suffering with this condition and not to take things personal during this time. It helps if my loved one will understand that I am not my best at that time and not to judge or throw stones. I would start to research for the best way to care for someone suffering with PMDD. I would also follow-up with a doctor for extra support. I would ask my loved one during the time they are not experiencing the symptoms of PMDD how they would like for you to support them during that time. I would not guess at that because different things work for different people. I hope this helps. Lastly, ask your loved one to journal what they are feeling/experiencing during those times. This will help you a great deal.

I also meant to tell you that in caring for your loved one what they eat during the month will cause the symptoms to worsen. They need to stay away from caffeine products, sugars of all kind (candy, soda, etc...) if they smoke limit the amount or go cold turkey, these kinds of food have a major affect in someone dealing with PMDD. There are more foods to avoid. I would just research.

Thank you everyone who posted. My partner has PMDD and it has been very hard to deal with. The suicidal threats are the worst. I don't know what to do as it makes me so scared. I called the police last weekend as was so afraid and she was acting worse than ever-- but the police and ER were awful. He family is also no help. And of course, no matter what I do or say during that time is ever good and she loses control. Any suggestions on how to respond/ deal with this severity and suicidal issue? She even bought poison to take her life during this PMDD- which is disposed. So scared of losing her. She is in therapy by the way which has not really been helpful yet.

Has she tried any medication? Effexor helped my pmdd symptoms greatly. Best of luck. I love that you’re concerned for her and want to help. She’s blessed with you for that.
