hi, ive had pmdd since i was 11, didn't know what it was until i was 17 and was only really able to do anything about it til 18. the first doctor i went to didnt know what pmdd was, she just said it was pms and gave me microgynon30 which pretty much just had the same effect as the actual pmdd, i had to go back and get a different pill and suggested a low dose, which i got (loestrin 20). that was fine to take, but i still got pmdd. even though it was only for a couple of days rather than a couple of weeks it's still horrible to have to want to be dead even for 1 minute!

anyway, i went to a different doctor who first asked a gynaecologist if it was ok to take packs without the 7 day withdrawal, she said i could only do that for 3 months at a time then i'd have to take the break to "clear out" (???) but the doctor said he'd do a bit more research and called me up a few days later saying it would be fine to take the pill without the break so i wouldnt have the withdrawal bleed (which he said isn't a period anyway). this is what ive been doing for about 4 years now and it's been ok but there are a few side effects from this (mainly that i don't really have any sort of libido anymore as i think that came with ovulation/periods, which is quite upsetting, thanks womb for letting me choose between the quality options of happy + no sex drive or suicidal + sex drive!!).

i took my last pack as directed and took the break to see if it would help but that was a huge mistake because surprisingly enough i still got pmdd, which messed up my uni work, i missed a very important deadline (ive luckily been able to reschedule this). i thought maybe there could be another pill that would be better, maybe an even lower dose or something, so i went to another doctor who was completely useless, didn't listen to anything i said, refused to give me a doctor's note for the uni, told me he didn't know much about the pill but he noticed my dosage was "too low" (!?!?) didn't ask if i'd been on any other pill and gave me a prescription for rigevidon,which when i got home and did some research on found out... was just a rebrand of microgynon30, so that doctors trip was a complete waste of time.

idk this turned into a bit of a solid wall of text but i'm really just wondering what i can do here. i dont really think i want to be taking a pill every day for the rest of my life, but it works in controlling pmdd and i cant risk any alternatives until i'm finished with university (about 5 months)
