I am writing to ask for some help. It's not something I am use to doing. I have been volunteering with dachshund rescue for 18 years. I seem to take in the SPECIAL ones. (The ones with disabilities)
Well about three months ago, my Piper who is a double dapple dachshund who was born both blind and deaf got this cough...it almost sounded like a baby seal with a hairball. I rush him to our general vet who took bloods and chest x-ray. It turns out the Piper had an enlarged heart so they thought. We were rushed over to Blue Pearl Emergency Hospital. (this visit was close to 400)
We saw a Cardiologist, who said that his heart who not enlarged that he had fluid around the heart. They he needed to be tapped. She explained to me, that by tapping him it will elevate the pressure on the heart. She said sometimes it only takes one time or it could also require a procedure again. The fluid was biopsied - came back negative. (The vet cost with hospitalization was 4,500)
Six weeks later it happened again. We had him tapped again. And again hoped that this would be the last time. But the best way to have the issue stopped. Was to remove the heart lining. I was praying the two time tapping would be it. (The vet cost with Hospitalization was 3,800)
But it was about 6 weeks after it happened again. The surgeon said being that it was refilling so quickly that only hope for him was to remove heart lining... or as much of it as possible.
Piper has always been a forever puppy....he loves anyone and everything he meets. He loves snuggle up to me and his brothers and sister. he loves play with toys. He never acted sick except for this cough. He loves to do race track. You would never know that he was blind nor deaf. So, I had to give him this chance. The surgery was estimated at 13,000. I know most people would say I was crazy. But Piper is my soul furbaby...being born blind and deaf, he taught me to trust and to love. I couldn't let my best friend down. He taught me the Love is the language the blind can seeand the deaf could hear!! We had the surgery.
Piper bounced back better than excepted. The surgeon and I were so happy. I took him home from he home from the hospital after 3 days. He was his typical normal self...loving to eat, snuggle and be with his family. 6 days later Piper passed in his sleep. I am completely devastated!!!
This is where I am asking for your help... I am now in debt for over $20,000. My credit cards are maxed. I was approved for 8,000 of care credit….little did I know that it’s interest rate is 26.99% the interest free period is only 3 months. I am trying to raise 8,000 to pay the care credit amount Would you please consider donating - contributing to Piper's love. I created a gofundme page for Piper's vet bills. Please help me keep Piper’s love alive. So that in the future I will continue to be able to help the special needs animals.
