i just joined the group yesterday. I've had PN since the beginning of this year (2016). I think it's caused by one of the medications I'm taking. I'm taking about 18 different meds a day! I read that cholesteral medication has an adverse effect of periferal neuropathy. I talked to my Doctor & he took me off of that med to see what happens after one month. I still have 8 more days left before reporting back. The pain hasn't gone away but it has changed. Can anyone give me some advice on pain relief? Thanks, Belinda
HI - I had a Doctor suggest that the cholesterol medication I was taking should have been prescribed with COQ10 (I think that is what is was called) and it wasn't so he thought my PN was a result of that. I have had it for almost 4 years. Do everything you can to get treatment for this right away. Quit smoking, eat right and stay off the Opiates. That is where my problem started. The pain has become unbearable. Cannot walk, cannot enjoy life and starting my detox program tonight. Get help immediately for your PN. Try alternatives such as Acupuncture, hypnosis, stay away from the Hydrocodone/Norco. Good Luck to you.
Thanks Marty0322!
I'm taking Topamax 100 mg (50 mg twice a day) it seems to be working! My Dr also took me off of my cholesterol medicine & that . worked on the pain as well! I don't smoke but my eating habits are awful. Is there a good Multi Vitamin that you take? Are you taking the COQ10? I've heard that it's very good for your heart but I've never tried it. Thanks for your recommendations, I'll be sure to follow up with my Doctor. I'm so sorry for the pain you are going through and I wish you all my best! If you get cramps in your feet, CVS has a leg cramp pain relief pill(homeopathic) that has quinine which will make the cramps go away almost immediatley! You can also drink tonic water that has quinine listed as one of it's ingredients. May your heart's desire be given to you.
