Hi All. I am hoping I can find someone that has had experience with this. I am 46, and over the past few months my periods have gotten significantly heavier. Seven weeks ago I started bleeding and have been bleeding daily ever since. By week 3 I was in with my OBGYN who performed pap and biopsy and all came back normal. He said this is how my body is beginning to go through menopause and offered me a few options, ablation, IUD or hysterectomy. I have opted for the IUD and am getting it in about 10 days. In the meantime, I still bleed daily. There are days that I only need a couple of pads for the entire day, and other days where there are a few hours of heavy bleeding and clotting where I need pad and tampon to stop from leaking through....is this something anyone has experienced?
I'm in a similar situation; my periods are very, very irregular, heavy and light, very long and some days and months are skipped. There were times I had a period back to back with a day or two of no blood in between. At other times, I ovulated twice with no period and spotting. Most recently, my period lasted over 30 days with spotting for days. The blood has changed from the standard menstrual blood to more of a watered down, semi-slimy version. It's very strange. I see my Gyno in a few days for a biopsy, then and ultrasound for fibroids and most importantly, HRT. Do you have an underlying condition causing the irregularity?
I'm on day 28 of a period. 46 yrs old. My periods are very irregular, sometimes staying for weeks, and sometimes almost nothing. 2 years ago was my longest one for over a month. I've been in perimen for 6 years now and am SO tired of it. I wish there was an off button.
Did you get the IUD? How's it going if you did?
I am new here.... 46 years old, going through many of the perimenopausal symptoms. For the last several years, I suffered from heavy bleeding -and longer-than-usual periods- as well as blood clots. My doctor ordered an ultrasound because she suspected fibroids. Sure enough, they are to blame. Ugh. Have you been checked for fibroids? Sounds like that could possibly be the culprit.
Hi! it's so relieving to hear these stories! SO i'm not loosing my mind. I"m 40 and since 38 melasma started on face.. bleeding throughout entire month...had all the same test they said nothings wrong and I'm like all other women. A small fibroid was found but i was told too small to be the culprit. Fast forward... I'm basically hemorrhaging now every month with large clots..headaches and extreme fatigue with insane mood swings for 10 days before my period should start. And lets not forget burning sensation at vaginal area during bleeding (best I could find is is dryness). ALL these symptoms I now know are postmenopausal related. Not one doctor has even mentioned the possibility. I did the IUD and experiences pain, acne and hair loss, removed asap. I'm going in to ask for ablation. I can't take this any longer. I want to cry as I write this.
