I saw something on tv that interested me. Don't know if anyone else would want to try it. We know of these little lamp timers you can use in your house to save electricity. But you can buy a timer for large appliances. Typically for airconditioners. Well the biggest cheapskate show was on and this woman put her freezer on one of these timers. I have to say it could work out since I don't dig into my freezer every day or not even at night. I went to amazon.com and read reviews on these timers. Many don't seem to cut the mustard. But this one I ordered seemed to have good reviews. I have to give it a try! Freezers run a good bit of electricity. And if that works I am going to get one for my fridge.
About 10 yrs ago I drove an ice cream truck. There were about 5 trucks in operation in this company.
It's the trucks that drive the streets with gut awful music,lol.
Anyways in some of the trucks/vans they just had household freezers.
they were pretty much filled with ice cream Wrapped bars,cups, cones ect.
At night the freezers were plugged into your regular household type electric socket.
soo from about 10:00 pm at night until 10:00 am the freezers were plugged in to keep frozen.
during the day about 10 to 12 hrs. all day long the freezers being opened
& the ice cream is staying frozen Unless we had 95 = 100 degree days.
if it got that hot we'd also use dry ice.
but in a home you'd be fine by keeping your home freezer powered for 10 = 12 hrs a day
instead of 24 hrs a day.
even if you save $3.00 = 5.00 a month that adds up a yr. minumum $36.00 ..
even if it was $1:00 a month == $12.00 a yr.
would you rather give that cash to the electric co. or would you rather use that money for something else YOU need ?
the amount you pay for a timer will pay for itself & in a way will be your profit
in the near future? you can get timers at most stores you already shop at.
look in the electrical dept.
The timer would be great on those TVs that are always on....turn off at bedtime and back on before you get up!
