Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Community Group
Pelvic venous congestion syndrome PCS or Pelvic Venous Insufficiency / Incompetence is similar to the condition of varicose veins in the legs. In both cases, the valves in the veins that help blood flow toward the heart do not work properly. As a result, blood pools in the veins, and the veins in the affected body part stretch and bulge. In pelvic venous congestion...
I 10 weeks ago had the ovarian embolisation done.
I originally had varicose vein issues in legsand seen a specialist who sent me for a scan to investigate my legs , upon review they seen reflux in to my Great saphenous vein from pelvic which was a indicated that something maybe going in the pelvic region.
I had no real pain or discomfort in pelvic region at this point. My leg veins were getting bad (only 36yrs old with 4 kids). I then began to notice veins across my bottom (lovely) lol.
I remembered having slight leg veins at the back for years and never really had discomfort. They began to ache and i got my hubby to look. and they could be tracked into my pelvic region............grrrr.
Further scans took place which indicated incompetent left ovarian vein. This was in Jan 2011.
The pain and heaviness got bad in my bottom area and my right foot swelling slighty and ached.
In april this year i went and had it coilded. The radiologist was great but upon waking after the procedure he said it would not help as the blood coming down was going into another big vein.
I was gutted. i though this was to solve most of my problems.
The procedure was done lying down, which i believe makes a huge difference as veins are not enlarged from standing pressure.
After about 2 weeks i lost alot of size on bottom and legs............yippee, never thought i was swollen.
It has taken quite a while but my right foot is not as swollen and not as ache, it got really bad before op but has taken along time to get better.
I was told it would take up to 6 weeks to see a difference but for me it has been longer. I will be going back t o specialist to get checked as i still have bottom vein that feel yucky to sit on and vagina veins.
A great informative website is the whitely clinic

It is funny most doctor have no idea about this and diagnoses is hard as in most cases procedures are done lying down.
I hope this helps love to hear your story.
p.s procedure was quick and painless, although i had an allergic reaction to meds.
i was sooooo happpy to get this, since i believed i will wake up pain free.. well I woke up and the doc that did the surgery very happily said i have huge varicose veins around all pelvics.. that was in jan 2011. im from slovenia, and it is a very rear condition here.. i was told they did emoblisation like to 5, 6 woman ... so i started gathering info all around the word... and found 2 docs, one in austria one in italy, the procedure cost from 2-3000 €... the problem is that you never know if you will need a repeat... and if something goes wrong the costs are enormous...i've read articles on web of science and springer, and most of them tell that embo is ok, like 70% successful... the problem is , there is no long term research of side effects. 4 the past 2 months i feel better the belly is not so bad, i lost aobut 3kg.. i do have bad pain when ovulating, i also feel sick at that period. and since the laparo, i have a constant back pain, which drives me mad.. in the morning when i stand up from bed im like stiff... you know, like i had a cramp in my lower back. I hike a lot, and when my body moves- is heated i feel great - no pain what so ever. but i sit 8h a day and that kills me...
so now im almost at the embolisation.I posted a good artice on fb, where the support group is... but it is scientific - i understand most of it although im not a doc...
i do not have any other varicose veins.. i think belly is enouhg... oh yes.. also sex is painfull..but not always.. i have one 6yold..that is my short story - feel free 2 ask anything.
docs in slo dont know much, so i had to study a lot.
they have to do iliac veins too, since the blood reflux there.. the problem with embo is if it is not done right and very precise it is no use... regards, Meta
what did he say? i didnt see you reply earlier.
Well they say it takes a while to improve a lot... thanks for the info!!
