i think during the transition you WILL be nastier than you should until you find a happy medium. sales training helps with that, so if you choose to sell mary kay or something like that, where they give you tons of support and training, you can SEE ways of handling people through sales.

the up front stuff would be with your closer people, like your husband. are you doing that?

Once I tried on a "command" voice and directed my husband to take out the trash. I felt like I was being direct, but he asked what was wrong (thinking I was angry about something). I think it's easier to be direct with something cheery, like an impromptu date. "Grab your stuff. Let's go."

I've done sales a little bit. Hate it. Horrible at it. To me, sales is the epitome of imposing my will on someone else. I am in a customer service office now and don't hate it so much. Every once in a while I feel like I'm talking down to a customer instead of being direct, but no one has complained (in earshot of the boss or me).

if you are providing information and its something they want to begin with you are offering a service as well. if you are scamming people that is a whole other thing and people should be jailed for scams.
