This group is to help parents of sexually abused children. While our children's needs always come first, we forget that we need help too. This group is here to help. I myself have children who is victims of sexual abuse and struggle daily, with it. Please join to help support one another.
Hi, hmmmm, where do I start?
My daughter was sexually assaulted twice at the age of 13 by her father, my ex husband. This was July 2013. So long ago yet it seems like yesterday sometimes. I had been seperated from him for 7 years and while I knew he was a terrible husband, I thought he was a good dad. I was wrong.
We went to the police, he was charged after a long investigation, he plead guilty (after 5 adjournments) and got 6 months jail (served in 2015) and an 18 month community corrections order. We have an intervention order in place until my youngest child turns 18.
Sounds so easy writing the details but it was a long and difficult time. My daughter went off the rails, becoming promiscuous and dabbling in drugs and alcohol causing violent and difficult behaviour to the point of me having to find alternative accomodation for her. I suffered post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety from the shock of it and because of daughter's behaviour and my son has anger and depression as a result.
Our lives were turned upside down from the actions of one person and it's a bitter pill to swallow.
If my story can help one other person get through this awful process I would be stoked.
my daughter was also abused by her step father, i only found out 6 months ago and she was in her early teens when it happened. my life has been torn apart.
we as parents try to take the pain for our children, leaving ourselves on pain.
