Are you in counseling too? Its hard. I go up and down with it. But truthfully the blame lies solely with the perp and no one else.

it is very hard, I have had survivor guilt for 20 years stupid thing is perp doesn't give a damn. I'd like to dumb a cement truck on him full of guilt for all the damage he did to my son. Hugs to you , we are here for you . casey

Thank you. I have just started counseling. I’m hoping it brings some relief. It’s been about a month and a half and it feels like I will never be able to live a happy life again. I don’t know what to do to feel better. It takes everything I have to get through the responsibilities of the day and support my daughter.

SAME!!! The guilt is overwhelming!

I use to get furious at anyone who suggested I wasn't at fault. I mean I'm the mom the adult of course its my fault. My daughter was just turning three. It took me along time in counseling to finally realize first the fault is always with the person who did the crime period, and second if I had any idea that my daughter was in harms way I would have done everything in my power to protect her from that harm. I did have to forgive myself too and treat myself more kindly. I think I just wanted to hurt because I was so overwhelmed by the hurt my daughter endured and so disturbed by the idea of my sweet beautiful little daughter experiencing something so heinous.

It took along time until I was able to let go of that guilt. The trauma really messes with you.
