my estranged daughter is getting married October 18__of course I am not invited__am I supposed to send a gift? this daughter is a narcissistic brat who is adored by my ex, in fact he is the reason we are estranged and is paying for the wedding. I guess I should take the higher road and send something......but would like some input from people who are living this situation. I am getting various messages from friends and relatives but they don't truly understand.

If you were not invited, there should be no expectation of a gift. However, if you feel you can accomplish something positive for yourself by sending one, then do so. If you are sending a gift hoping and waiting for a thank you, then you may be setting yourself up for another painful experience.

I'll never understand why people feel the parents should "take the high road" and I DID IT FOR YEARS. It enables the other person who is disrespectful and they don't have to change.

IF she wants to meet you half way by "doing the right thing" to invite you THEN you would meet her half way and bring a present.
