How was everyone's Thanksgiving.. How are you

Hi, All!
How's everyone doing this weekend? I know it's likely been difficult for many of us...
I'm at a strange new place: My ED was the most assertive she's ever been on T-Day evening: She's not having any children, ever. Not adopting. Doesn't want to parent. Shot any small hope I'd "someday" be a grandparent (which has been very, very important to me) to smithereens. So, I'm sort of emotionally detaching to an extent where I'm not missing her; not clammering to see her (when it happens it will be soon enough) and turning my energies to trying to figure a way to become a "surrogate grandparent" to a young mother or family in need of one; to this end, I signed-on the Surrogate Grandparents site online; however, there aren't any matches for me as of yet. I even advertised something along these lines on Craigslist; hoping to do casual babysitting/childcare that might lead to a more enduring connection with a family.
So, that's my update. Still trying to help ED obtain health insurance for January.. That, I'm TOTALLY committed to; because i don't want to feel powerless and guiltridden when the big accident, injury, or major illness strikes and she calls for bigtime help I just don't have to provide! So, in a way, i'm serving my own future self by trying to convince her to sign-on for coverages which will help defray expenses. I should mention that she's living with GF in a very seedy section of Philadelphia; and there's at least a good chance she could be one of those "innocent bystanders" shot at any moment. And that her typical speed on the road is 80-90 mph on highway. Her immature sense of being "untouchable" could yield disasterous results at any moment.
Aside from that endeavour, I'm laying off her and have this sense I've FINALLY begun to "let go" Have NO interest in the now-started "holiday season" here on the East coast. And this used to be a very festive, happy time for me. Just not interested. See if as hassles wherever I have to go to purchase something that's def NOT a gift.
C'es the vie. That's life...
That's me. As for my plan to Skype.. My depression, admitted, has been a hindrence to follow-through. Also, I am going to Las Vegas end of month to see my relocated best friend.. she's the computer genious who will walk me throgh how to group Skype. So when i come back, in early Jan, I will likley be annoucing i figured out how to do it and setting a time to do this. Which might actually be a good time; post-holiday blues and all!
I'm going outside now to trim back my rose bush. I would love to hear back in form of replies as to how you all are doing!
wishing you each strength and giving hugs and support,
Marion

I am going out on a limb. Maybe you will like the west coast and decide to spend more and more time out there. I know your best friend just moved there. we are leaving the east soon to do just that and not have the closeness to have to "do things" for our EC. Whatever you do, good luck and strength and wisdom.
