now is a great time to shop! theyre clearancing out a bunch of toys and baby items at the target in our area, and i already got some stuff. :) theres lots of cool stuff for 1yr olds, and shell probly like little play kitchen items, maybe a playhouse or dollhouse, and babies. books are always good, and clothes for the next year too. it shouldnt be too hard this year, since she wont really know whats going on or what to expect. just dont go overboard, esp if shell be having a b-day soon after. my sons b-day is thanksgiving time, so we go all year with hardly any new toys, then within a month we have more than we know what to do with!! also, if youre family is like mine you probly have an eager grandpa ready with the scissors to open boxes right away, so make sure you get a chance to approve of a toy before someone else "helps" you open it. happy shopping and merry christmas! :)

i not even had my LO yet (7weeks left) but started but my xmas pressies for family etc as my LO will only be 3months so it'll be a rattle or something since i know family will go overboard. :D

Books and blocks, buckets and toys for bathtime.

Definitely books and wooden toys. There are a few toys are IKEA that I have my eye on and they have this great little train set...so cute.

my little girl will be 6 months then, im soooo looking forward to the first christmas with her, i recon she'll be crawling by then and sitting up so what toys do u recommend??

My daughter will be 11 months by then and I'm planing on getting her some toys that mimic household things like remote controls or play telephones, stuff that makes music or noise, she is all ready fascinated by buttons on things like game controllers and computer keyboards. I was thinking some of the walking toys or ride on toys might be worth a look, blocks and books of course.

She is almost seven months and right now she loves anything she can chew, things that make noise and things she can bang together. She is constantly trying to grab the tv remote so may have to get her a toy one sooner.

I have put back things that people have given me at baby showers that I know he will not be big enough for until Christmas - I am going to wrap those things up and put them under the tree.

That is actually a GREAT idea Annemarie!! I am going to do that! Save me some $$$$. Lord knows most people have barely enough to get by right now...

Jasmine will be a few weeks past one then, her bday is Dec 6, so I have no idea what to get her. She'll end up getting so much for her birthday I can't imagine Christmas gifts too. Mabye I can talk dh into a cruise or something, then we can skip the gifts (birthday I mean). That way we can have a bigger Christmas.

I heard this very valuable piece of advice from my grandmother - Whatever you do for them this Christmas/birthday/Easter, etc., you will have to do at least that and a little more next time - so start small - give them something to look forward to, otherwise you will go broke and your child will come down with the "gimmies"

Growing up I asked Santa for ONE thing and that was the thing that he magically brought to me - I can tell you what I got each year staring at about age five.

im gettin my son, who will be 11 and half months, one of those little trikes, that has the handle on the back for the parent to push. the one i have found actually has a harness so it can be used from 10 months.
at about 18 months i think u can take the harness off and when they are 3 u can take the parent handle off too.
i am also getting him some little toys designed for his age
