Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
my son has a very sensitive stomach and i could introduce a new food every few weeks. if he got fruit before veggies, around that age he would vomit his entire bottle. when he was 2 months i had to put rice cereal in his bottle because he couldnt hold just the formula down.
at 5 months he should be getting more formula then solids. it is around 9-12 months when fluids should be reduced and solids are increased. i give my son who is 15 months now the solids before i give him his bottle. my son is still on formula and i have yet to introduce homo milk because his stomach is sensitive and i have had issues with him eating lately.
i would recommend stopping the jar food for a week to allow your sons stomach to settle down. after the week, try again starting with veggies. green veggies are the easiest to start with. stay with the one food for a week before introducing a new food.
if after this you are still noticing your son is spitting up in large amount, i would recommend making an appointment with his doctor to see if he has a reflux issue.
So, I would pick once a day that you think would be best. I chose lunch because it worked easier and I thought it would give her tummy a chance to settle if it did upset her. The rest of the time I nursed.
At 6 months she moved to food twice a day but I also began a three meals a day schedule, or at least tried to. She's 9 months now and we're pretty much just now there to eating three times a day (meals) but she still nurses once in the middle of the day at at 3am.
