My DD has bouts of screaming, crazy colic and HUGE gas. Dr just started her on Zantac this week. Not sure if there are going to be changes but I hope so. Good luck. Message me if u want.

Refusing to nurse (I exclusively bf) was our one sure sign of reflux. My son was fussy but he was fussy after we handled reflux too. If Mylanta helps with eating that's enough. Spit ups continue on meds too, they just don't hurt. And fussiness can be due to many reasons :) My son was on Zantac. We tried other things first like keeping him upright while eating and for 20 mins afterwards - it was hell to do this at night - but it didn't help. Zantac helped him very well.

Let me clarify.... the fussiness is not only fussy, but at times SCREAMS where she turns red and holds her breath out of the blue. Also, she is a super restless sleeper... wakes easily and does not take good naps even though she is tired.

My daughter who is now 6 y/o had reflux and had to be on Zantac. We have 9wk old twin boy's. Twin B has tummy problems and we have been through every formula you could possibly imagine. I cant breast feed due to having a breast reduction. I tried to pump with a hospital grade pump but it didn't work out. Jackson's symptoms were colic behavior, stretching the neck back as if he had pain in his esophagus. Spitting up excessively, projectile vomiting. Curdled spit up that smelled like vomit sometimes two to three hours after a bottle. It was all very weird. The Dr thinks he has several things going on here. For one GERD and the other is an allergy to protein and lactose. We tried the Similac Sensitive and it helped but it was not perfect. You can try that formula and they also have Similac Sensitive with Rice in it for babies who spit up. We just had to switch to Similac Ailmentrum for colic babies. It's super expensive and we are waiting to hear if our insurance will pay for it. Talk with your Dr and other moms on here. I wish you luck!

My son has Reflux. He was thowing up every single bottle every single day. We went through all different formula's...similac, isomil, isomil with cereal, alumentum...NONE of them worked. We even fed him sitting up, held him up for 30 mimnutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes...and we would put him down and he was STILL throwing up. He also would like choke on the acid...then kind of chew on it. My SIL would call it "chewing on the cud" when her daughter did it. Do you see that at all? Does your daughter scream, suck, seem better and then scream again? Lucas did that all the time. It was like the acid was coming up and burning him so he would suck to "cool the burn" but then the formula was also causing the acid so then he would start to scream again.

Anyway, we had to do a couple of things to get our happy baby back. First we found Enfmamil Nutramigen...it is supposed to be the Similac Alimentum's equivalent...but Lucas was barf city on the Alumentum. He saw a gastroenterologist who wanted to put him on Elecare....about 50 bucks a can that IS NOT covered by insurance and I begged him to give me one other option first. He told me to try Nutramigen tos ee if it worked otherwise it would be Elecare. With the VERY FIRST bottle of Nutramigen he didnt throw up...and since Thanksgiving 09 maybe he has spit up 10 times...and that would be a lot. Next he was put on Zantac to stop the reflux behavior..the choking on the acid coming back up, the burning...etc etc. After a little while the Zantac constipated him and we had to do a combo of Mylanta and Zantac....but with the New Formula and those new meds Lucas stopped throwing up AND seemed to stop being in pain. He has been our happy little baby ever since. Recently I thought he was "cured" of the reflux and I started cutting back his meds...IDIOT....with in 2 days of cutting them back he was refluxing again so bad. The medicine WORKS!! I just forgot how good...it made me think he didnt have it any longer...wrong!!

Our DS was pretty apparent he had reflux, but the dr wanted to wait a few weeks to be sure. He would have it so bad he wouldn't just spit up, it would come out of his nose too. He would get panicky; he'd choke. He wouldn't want to eat more than an ounce afterwards, then he'd be exhausted and want to pass out basically. We looked at changing formula (which I don't know if it's an option for you or if you all are BF) but that wasn't a problem. It got to a point where medication just was the only option. We put him on Zantac at the lowest dose and he started doing really well. Alot of his reflux is emotional/anxiety related, so once things calmed down for him we slacked off on the meds. We only use it now when we think something could trigger him (like a birth mother visit) or when he has an actual attack.

We also can't let him lie down flat for at least 20 min after eating when he's having these attacks (it was even longer when he was younger)
