After 4.5 years of treatments and trying we were blessed with a beautiful son. Now at 8 weeks old he has to have surgery. It isn't major surgery, but still requires general anesthesia. He was born with this thing under his tongue called a ranula (it is a fluid filled pocket) and since it didn't shrink like they were hoping it has to be removed. On Thursday we will go to the hospital and after 5 hours without food a very unhappy baby will have to get an IV and be put to sleep only to wake up in pain :( Please any and all prayers that help him both get through the surgery without any complications and the next few days without too much pain would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

It's hard on us parents - but he will do SO GOOD you will be amazed.
ps - the best thing I demanded during the surgery was CONSTANT surgical updates. The docs called me FROM the surgery room to tell me that he was sedated just fine, no allergies to anesthesia, etc....I got three calls in all and they so helped me. Also, they let me stay with my baby until they took him to surgery, and then I got to be there BEFORE he woke up so he wasn't scared. Don't be afraid to demand to be with your baby as much as possible. GOOD LUCK.
