Hi all! My son is 8 months old (wow, thats weird to say!) and he is my love and such a great baby. He is babbling and has a great personality, but he is not crawling yet. He finds a way to get to toys or people he wants to by rolling around and pushing with his feet, but not crawling. He has been doing the "swimming" move holding his arms and legs off the ground balancing on his tummy for months now. What is going on? I am trying to just relax about it and some family members have even mentioned babies who skip crawling completely, but I am a little concerned. Has anyone out there dealt with this? I know all kids are different and eventually level out but it does bother me. Am I overreacting?

my son didnt start crawling until he was 10 months old. those are only guidelines.

every baby develops at his and her own pace.

some boys are slower at reaching the mildstones than others.

my son was army crawling(pushign with his feet) on his belly at 6 months, but then didn't TRULY start crawling until around 9 months. Now he crawls like crazy, and is already walking while holding onto things and he's 10 months. I think as long as your son is motivating around on SOME fashion (rolling, scooting, etc) than he's JUST FINE. He's clearly TRYING to get around and he will figure it out. Don't be afraid to "play" with him and help him get INTO the crawling position...and also CRAWL aruond wth him so he can see you doing it too...but I think he's doing great.

I had an Early Intervention Physical Therapist at my house just this morning evaluating my 8.5 month old son. He was 7 weeks pre-mature and my ped thought that he may be a little delayed for his adjusted age of 7 months. My son is NO where near crawling. THe PT told me that he should be at least up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth by 10.5 months old...for my son that will make his adusjted age 9 months old. So the fact that your son isnt crawling at 8 months old yet I dont believe is an issue. I would ask your ped just to amke sure...but the way I understood it from th PT crawling is an 8-10 month old milestone. Your son still has some time.

my dd was 5 weeks early and even at 10 mo old was nowhere close to crawling. we too had early intervention. and had to teach her to get into possition. but wouldnt do it. she comando crawled sometime after her first birthday, for a long while before she got on all fours. then crawled until about her second birthday.

my friends kid was 9 weeks early and but scooted rather than crawl and even started walking before my dd who was born 3 months before her.

My daughter just rolled everywhere she didn't start crawling till little over 10 months maybe closer to 11 months.
ITs completely OK!!!!!!!!

Mine is 8 months and close to crawling but not doing so yet. My friend has a boy who just turned 1, and he doesn't crawl yet. Don't worry.
