Looking for an answer too! I was messing around with hubby last night, and ran after him, and totally peed myself! How embarassing!!

I've always done lots of Kegels and I only pushed twice when I was delivering my baby, and I leak too! Not at random but when I laugh a lot, cough too hard, sprint or do a few jumping exercises I need to pee desperately, and last month I was jumping on a trampoline and I seriously peed myself. It wasn't cool. I did kegels right after delivering my baby, and it felt pretty much the same as before, but a few months ago it started to feel different when I did them. I don't know what happened, but I don't like it!

Kaja, is there any chance that you could have pelvic inflammatory disease or a bladder infection? Maybe talk to your ob-gyn, and get a referal to a urologist?

Hm. I've talked to my obgyn and he just shrugged and said it's normal and it gets worse with each child. He did check my urine at the time and there was no infection. I guess I should try a urologist ...

Yeah, I would ask for a consult. I have never just randomly leaked urine. Sounds a bit funny...and I have had 3. I have, however, leaked urine if laughing very hard, or a big scare, or something...or now, when I go to puke because of morning sickness...I try not to, of course, but it is so bad, and I guess I get worked up over it, nad...wellit leaks, sometimes.

Just because he did a urine test does not meean that there is not an infection elsewhere in the tract....I think that a kidney infection, for example, will not necessarily come out in a urine sample.

You may need blood tests....I may be wrong, but that is just my instinct. Your ob-gyn sounds a bit strange. I do not think it is normal, not at your age, not after 1 child, and you might consider getting an opinion fom another ob-gyn, just in case...esp. if you plan on more babies down the road..

Better safe than sorry. And I am glad you bumped this up. Please let me know the outcome of any other visits or tests; I would really be interested in knowing, for my own info.

In really bad cases, I think there is surgery to help. SO, please see some more specialists.

My boss had such a problem with this she had to see a specialist -- physical therapy for her whoo-whoo! Seriously. My partner had the issue for maybe 2 months -- she had 12 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing -- and it eventually resolved itself, but our daughter was on the small size. And neither of them had the issue randomly, it was always if they sneezed or coughed or laughed... or if they waited to pee too long. I'd check in with a specialist just to be safe.

I have the same problem now when running or laughing really hard. I hate it but I have seen an improvement over the last month or so.

I have the opposite problem (I needed to de-tone my pelvic floor muscles following the birth) but as I was seeing the physio such a lot we discussed many problems, and this was one that she mentioned women suffer needlessly from as physio can do a LOT to help for the great majority of women. I would really be seeking a second opinion (personally I would not settle for that as a reply!) and maybe look into if your hospital covers physio following childbirth?
