Parenting Newborns & Infants (0-1) Support Group
Feeding your infant and ensuring they are getting enough nutrition is one of the most important aspects of parenting during that first year. This community is dedicated to those who are nurturing a baby, whether breastfed or formula-fed.
Also keep in mind your little one is still adjusting to things... he's less than a month old. Scheduled feedings work great for infants who are a couple months of age or more. For now because he is so young he will want to feed more often, every 2 hrs especially if he's breasted as he will digest the milk faster and be hungrier quicker. Like I said scheduled feeds are great if that's what your child is showing you works for him... for now just read him if he looks hungry feed him. I found that my little one started responding well to eating on time every 2 - 3 hrs during the day (every 3 hrs or so during the night) when she was about 2 1/2 or so. Now that she's nearly 3 months she eats every 3 - 4 hrs during the day and sleeps through the night (feeds once at 5-7 hrs, and goes back to sleep for another 4 hrs.)
Also thought I would mention cluster feeding. The nurses at the hospital say that sometimes though they ate a good portion the last time, they just want to eat again in an hour or so... just because they've been more active or they're just hungry again. This is true mostly for breast fed babies.
Good luck Quin! :)
