dark green/black poop!!

Ok so I have been having issues with my little girl, first we thought she was colic and gassy, then it started with her not wanting to eat and it seemed like she was having issues either swallowing or sucking. I called her doctor 3 times yesterday and doctor told me yesterday that she could have thrush. I took her this morning to doc and luckily she doesn't have it. BUT today, she pooped dark green almost black and it was like creamy peanutbutter. I hate to call the doctor cause she probably hates me by now BUT can anyone tell me if this is a sign of constipation??? H E L P....thanks

I just read on a website that dark green poop can be a sign of a stomach virus??? Maybe this is why she is having issues eating??? By the way, the doctor said that she looks pretty healthy, no thrush!!!!!

Poop can be so many different colors and mean so many things, or nothing at all! How old is she? Have you changed foods or formula lately? Does she seem gassier than normal? It could just be a little upset in her digestive system like a virus. also if you have her on iron fortified cereal or iron fortified formula it can cause bowel movements to be dark in color. I would keep an eye on her, and if she keeps eating and wetting ok, I think it's Ok.

my doc told me that because Goodstart is a whey based formula, her poops may seem like peanutbutter, that consistancy and be different colors. Is she on this formula?

I call the dr for every thing even if she looks at me cross eye so do not feel bad about that. I do agree about the formual though. I still would keep a close eye on her to see is she starts to run a fever or any cold symptoms. Did the dr say anything about acid reflux. This sometimes acts like colic though the baby spits up a lot. My daughter has this. Good luck and I hope she starts to do better.

If her poop is creamy she's probably not constipated. how often does she poop usually? A little warm water or prune juice will help if she's not pooping as much/often

color alone doesn't rule constipation. Emma's poop has been almost blue before lol

Green poop is normal (I think it is from the iron). My daughter is getting breast milk and formula, and if she gets a lot of breast milk her poop is yellow, but if she gets a lot of formula it is green.

How old is she? If she is on solids it could be food that she has eaten. Is she is breastfed could there be something that you ate? And bottle?? There hasn't been any recalls for that certain product??
Has there been anyone with a virus that she has been around. Contact people that she has been around in the last maybe 14days and ask them if they have had an unsettled tummy. She may be sick and you not because small children are more vunerable to viruses as their immune systems arn't fully developed yet.
