When my son had thrush we had to sterilize them for at least five minutes however my ped said that we didn't need to sterlize them otherwise.

I sterlize them every time I use them.I wasnt sure if I had to keep doing this until she is 6 months or older or what.Its been a long time since I had a newborn..

I think its for the first 4 months..right?? :| could be wrong

I just sterlized them the first time. Wash them in dishwasher a lot though.

... oh yes I do sterilize them before the first use!! Forgot that, but after nope my ped said it wasn't necissary. We specifically asked because of the whole thrush issue he had when he was only a few weeks old.

I sterilize bottles/nipples before first use by boiling for 5 - 10 minutes, but never after that.

Same here, sterlize before first use.... then not after. Although I will admit with my first I had the Avent Microwave Steam Sterilizer and I would give the bottles a quick zap after every cleaning. With the 3rd, she's lucky to get a clean bottle at all (kidding, of course).

Maybe I'm just crazy but I sterilize everytime I clean her bottles. And maybe is 3 months. I was told by others to do it until she turns 6 months.

I also don't sterilize with each use- I just wash w/ hot water and soap and dry them thoroughly. But my theory is this- I am breastfeeding, and my breast isn't sterile. I put that in her mouth after I clean it with hot water and soap- :) I think like diem said- if you have infection issues, or possibly a child w/ an immune system issue, then you should sterilize. Otherwise I think cleaning them after each use is acceptable.

bottles, nipples and rings for 5 minutes before 1st use. after that just wash with hot soapy water and rinse well. :-)
