Biting is difficult and for us if we couldn't get my sons social biting under control he was going to get bounced from daycare. When we bf, if he bites he is off. I put him down and walk away. I think he just had all these new things in his mouth he was testing out. The first time he really chomped down on me I screamed and pushed him into my husband's arms. It hurt so bad I thought he bit my nipple off. But putting him down and telling him no biting, biting hurts worked very quickly. You have to say it in a firm voice.

During play we used the same tactic. As soon as he did it, it was an immediate stop. I said No biting, biting hurts and redirected him. He got the lesson pretty quick. For us we just had to be very firm and reinforce every time. Again I had to use a very very firm voice and let him know I mean business. Not yelling, just a firm voice and serious face. They are smarter and understand more than we give them credit for!

I was going to add my bits of wisdom but Klimawife said it all so well. Mackenzie bites during BF, but its just a nibble. I tell her "Don't bite! That hurts Mommy" and I give her a serious look. If she tries again, I put her down and by the way she cries you would have thought I was beating her. We haven't had any problems now that we've gone though that procedure several times. It's hard to be firm, but its important to keep your breast in tact! :)

I know, I know..... I try to say it firmly but I swear he smiles so big and cute when I say "no". But if his daddy says it he listens. I am a big sucker for those baby blues. I just have to man up and be mean about this because I dont want my son to do this to anybody else. Ive got to nip this in the bud !!!!
