Since the weather has changed and got colder my mother in law has been keep her place closed up. She watches my daughter almost 3 times a week since my mother has been down with a knee replacement. Well ever since the house has been closed up I have noticed that Aubrey has been more stuffy and she has had two ear infections which the Dr asked was she around SMOKE. We talked to my in laws and they smoke out side when Aubrey is there but when she is not they smoke inside. The place is very small and so when it is closed up you can smell the old smoke. I have always been allergic to smoke which the Dr says she will have my allergies. I talked to my hubby about this who states that he has no clue what to tell them now seeing how they are not smoking around her. I need for them to watch her as we both work and my mother will soon be able to watch her for at least 3 days. Any advise on bring this to their attention?

Let them know what the doctor said about the smoke and If you're positive they aren't smoking around your daughter I'd suggest they get an air purifier and change the filter regularly. My mom smoked in the house with us until I was 11 and I had ear infections the whole time. It may not get rid of the allergies but it will help I think. If they care about their granddaughter they should be more than willing to oblige. If cost is an issue maybe you could help out a little. I hope the little one feels better. :)

I agree with SunshineRay, ask them or buy them an air purifier to use in their house. That should help keep the air a bit clean.

Can they come to your house? That would REALLY bother me - if they smoke in the house, even if it's when your baby isn't there, the smoke smell is there and hazardous to your baby.

I think asking them to come to your house is the best idea. However if they can't do that then an air purifier might help. The filter would have to be changed regularly though. If I were in that situation I would purchase the purifier for them since I was the one requesting they use it. I hope things work out so your little one will be feeling better soon!
