I'm so sorry for your loss. I think that at six months he'll be way too young to remember anything- which is probably a good thing.

I'm also very sorry to hear about your loss. At this age, how your LO is affected will depend on your reaction to the situation. I don't think we give our children enough credit - even at a young age they can sense feelings and are aware of emotions. I say try your best to act how you would if your child were older - don't hide emotions, but also be comforting and reassuring to your child.

He is acctually helping me out a lot because when I start getting upset I think about him and then I try to cuddle with him (even though he doesn't like to lol). That makes me feel a little better just to see his smile and hear his laugh. I am trying to pack up my friends stuff so that I can take it to the funeral for his family. I am trying to do it inbetween classes and while my son is at day care so I don't have to deal with everything all at once.

I am just worried about my son because he does know somthing is wrong because when I start getting really upset all he wants is for me to hold and rock him. With all that has been going on in our little world I think he has spent more time in my arms then on the floor lol.

oh my gosh, I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. I just lost my dearest friend after Christmas and we left my husband and older kids behind to fly out of state for the funeral. It was very hard on ma and I cried a lot. My little one (9mos) of course knew there was something wrong but after inspecting my crying face he would laugh and smile. During the services he rubbed the hand of my friends father gently.... He actually was a comfort to us. I don't think they are affected like we are. At this age they don't have a lot of permanence established. I don't want my friend to be a sad part of our life so over the past three weeks I have shared tons of wonderful memories with my children. The best thing (in my opinion) is to share the wonderful even though you are mourning your loss. I do not know the circumstances of the death, but I have found comfort in knowing that God offers healing in heaven and there is no more pain, no more tears. I am sorry you are going through this and you are in my thoughts.
