Prescott gets cranky sometimes when he's fighting sleep, and will only fall asleep when I'm holding/rocking him. Sometimes I can lay him down and get a 20-30 min nap out of him, but sometimes he does the same thing and just wakes right up. Luckily, I usually get about an hour right after he eats when he's awake, but content. He'll hang out in his rocking chair or pack n play and talk to himself, so I can get a few things done during that time. He sleeps great at night in his crib though, so I'm not going to complain.

The only tip I can offer is to try to lay her down in a similar position as the one you're holding her in. Prescott often falls asleep when I'm holding him up on my shoulder, and he's kind of face down, so when I go to lay him down, I'll lay him on his tummy and he'll often stay asleep. But if I try to lay him on his back, he'll cry instantly. Other than that, all I can say is good luck with that. :)

I've noticed they will go through stages - maybe going through a growth spurt and wants to eat more often?? My mom (a post partum doula) read a book about some doctors that did a study and found that babies were a bit fussier when they were learning new things/going through a developmental stage. I find that Trey does those 20-30 minute naps for a day or two about every other week. Then he is fine for another week or two.

Maybe try putting her in her nighttime bed and see if that helps. Every baby is different and they are continually changing the rules on us. :)

Brenna has never been a good napper- same thing.... We put her down and she wakes right up. She's a great sleeper at night so I won't complain. Alot of times, I got her to sleep either in her bouncy seat or swing for 1/2 an hour. She still isn't a good napper- the daycare tells me all the time she seems to not want to miss anything. On a good day, she might sleep for an hour straight. Most of the time we get 2-3, 1/2 hr naps and she will always fall asleep in the car.
