Over The Fence Community Group
A quote from one of our happy Over The Fence members: "Hi JS- Thank you for the welcome message. Do you remember that show Home Improvement and the neighbor Wilson Wilson Jr. who would meet Tim the Tool Man at the fence, but never showed anything but his eyes? He was so funny. This group reminds me of those encounters... you get the wisdom, humor, and support from your DS...

One year ago today, I had GBS ( gastric bypass surgery ). I weighed 263 lbs., wore a 3X / 3X, and my BP was 199 / 99 !! I was using a walker and could not care for myself ! I was on 7 medications and could barely walk t all !
Today, I weigh 150 lbs., wear a sm / med, and my BP runs around 115 / 80 ! I walk on my own, can bathe, dress and care for myself. I carry my own purse +gym bag, and am full of energy !! I am on 1 BP pill bec of the 5 aneurysms in my brain, 1 mood lifter, and a stool softener!
Sure, I had complications ... During recovery (very scary!), my stitches let go and I hemorrhaged, spewing blood clots with projected vomiting and filled up a bath towel with blood! They fetched me back in & re-operated! After surgery, i had an infected incision & ended up with a big hole where my incision used to be. It had to heal from the inside out . had to clean it out with long Q-tips, pack it with gauze, & bandage it everyday for 8 weeks!
Fortunately for me, as it turned out, i had the same old, cast-iron stomach qualities that I had before surgery and except for doughy stuff and fluctuating texture sensitivities - there isn't anything I can't eat except for really hot, spicy food. ( I had signed for "Suicide Wings" at Quaker State prior to surgery! )
The biggest regret that I have, connected to my GBS surgery, is that I didn't have it done sooner!!
Yaay - For ME !!

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...
