Over The Fence Community Group
A quote from one of our happy Over The Fence members: "Hi JS- Thank you for the welcome message. Do you remember that show Home Improvement and the neighbor Wilson Wilson Jr. who would meet Tim the Tool Man at the fence, but never showed anything but his eyes? He was so funny. This group reminds me of those encounters... you get the wisdom, humor, and support from your DS...

It was Halloween 1994 - I was in college. I went as Terminator Woman. I bought the Wax Face makeup kit with the Chrome inset Cheekbone. I teased my hair up real wild and sprayed Bright Blue Sreaks in it (blonde hair).
I wore black lace gloves with a small ruffle on the edge of the wrist with shiny fake-chrome fingernails. I had dk silver-gray Moon Boots (Remember them - they looked like stove pipes) I wore a black turtle neck sweater & black knit stretch pants.
But what really topped it off & how I got the idea was - I borrowed my fiance's little brother's plastic chrome Transformer Arm. You put you whole arm in it & it fired red sparks out the end of it. I had a blast ! I sat outside the elevator area where the party was being held & shot everybody as they came off the elevator. I was 50 yrs old.
WHAT was your FAV Halloween Costume of ALL Time?

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

One was when I went with a 50's sock hop look; my mom took a long skirt that I wore for Christmas the year before and transformed it into a poodle skirt with a homemade poodle design and silver sequins for the leash that she glued on because she can't sew. I stuck some pennies in my loafers and wore one of my grandmother's scarves around my neck and had my hair up in a ponytail. It was a cute look and didn't cost much to put together.
Another good one was when I went as a witch - had to buy the pointy witch hat and got a prosthetic nose and black lipstick and some crazy black fake nails. I dressed in black leggings and a black turtlneck top and then my mom cut some holes in a black garbage bag and made me a dress to go over that and put a black belt of hers over that. She had this old straw broom as a decoration in the house and I was allowed to use it for a prop for that one night only.
Last one I liked was going as a black cat. I had to purchase a mask and tail but the rest of the outfit was put together via my closet - the black leggings again and a long black turtleneck sweater and black gloves, shoes and socks. I didn't care much for the mask because it was hard to see with it on, so when I went with the look again another year I cut the ears off the mask and attached them to a black headband and just put some makeup on my face for whiskers and on my nose. I looked like I was an understudy for an off boradway production of CATS.
I haven't dressed up for the holiday since middle school - I think once the feeling came that I was too old to go door to door begging for candy there just wasn't much reason to get dressed up anymore. But those were three good ones.
Tess I was a witch once!
