Nail biting IS major!! I used to chaw my nails down to first knuckle till they sometimes bled!! In 7th grade I got this brown liquid tincture called "Thumb". I used to dunk all of my nails in it. It TASTED awful and made your mouth on fire. I used it until I finally stopped entirely. I am 71 yrs old & NEVER did it again!

Well thanks but it's not that big of a deal. I've stopped before.. it's just that inevitably my nails will get to a certain point where they will wind up getting weak no matter what I do and break or peel and that usually leads me back to biting them. It's a vicious cycle that has gone on since I was a kid. And I've tried something similar to what you were talking about too - still didn't stop me from returning to biting my nails later on... it's just a matter of how long I manage to keep them going for really. i discovered from a book of specials for people over 50 (or nearing 50) there are travel groups you can join that are similar to the ones you go on as a young person, study abroad for over 50, volunteer vacations for over 50, peace corp limit of age is 85, and themed ones for sets of countries that are for 2 or 3 weeks at a time! all are discounted.
