I miss this group being active... every time we try to revive it, it just dies back down again shortly there after. This place used to be pretty hopping but the last couple of years it's been pretty quiet. It's not completely dead here but just not the hub it once was. The member numbers have gone down a bit in the last few years as some people left the site altogether and others were unceremoniously dismissed, and of the number still members here, I'd bet more than half don't come on the site anymore either because they've forgotten their passwords or they have trouble logging in or they just don't feel the same need to be here like they used to. But those sort of things happen with all the groups on the site across the board and they can still remain pretty active just the same.

I can't help but wonder NDY, is it your web browser that is causing you trouble getting on the site? Because I know some people complain about log in troubles while others here, like myself, rarely if ever have had any problems. Seems like it could be maybe the site isn't as compatible with certain browsers and thus there can be problems for some getting on but no problems for others. It doesn't account for the relative quiet in OTF, but it could be the reason people have had issues with the site and eventually gave up thinking it was the site that was the problem...

What is "unceremoniously dismissed" I, personally, have NEVER banned anyone from Over The Fence. Though we still have Admins lurking about with that power... ???!

I don't understand about "the Browser" & 79 what IS "copy v" & copy c"? I don't get it?

I still can't copy/paste with my android phone!!

I didn't mean you banned them, NDY... I meant from the site itself. Can admins ban people? I'm not even sure if that's true. Pretty sure no admins here have ever banned anyone if it's possible to though you would certainly be able to check that for yourself But I didn't mean from OTF, I meant from DS.

And by web browser, I meant the means by which you access the internet. For example, I use to use the now old school Internet Explorer but now I tend to use Microsoft Edge. There are others - Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, et al. Not every browser works with every website though. I found for a while with IE I could no longer write news articles for my two groups, but now with ME I can. I thought for a long time it was the site but it turned out to be my browser. So for some people who used to come here a lot but find it harder to get the site to work it could just be that their using an outmoded browser.

I know Yrod is still around; she's active in other groups anyway. marcianiak on the other hand I haven't seen, though that doesn't mean she isn't still around, just not where I've seen her.

Um... to be honest, I don't know. I did the Windows 10 upgrade and Microsoft Edge replaced Internet Explorer in the process. Maybe you can just change your default browser? I'm not quite sure how it works with regard to a phone; I'm a bit technologically challenged in that regard; I don't own an internet accessible phone (shocking in this day and age, I know). Perhaps someone else here might know....

Perhaps you should send messages to the people you miss around here - tell them you're back and that you wish they would pop in to OTF again and see if they will... The worst thing that could happen is they don't message you back and don't return to the group so it's not like you'd have much to lose doing that...
