BibMe.com - does automatic formatting of bibliography - just type in title or author's name of the book magazine or newspaper article or website you have cited and then watch as it does its magic!
Bing.com - the new Microsoft search engine designed just for students. Set as a homepage it offers daily pop-ups that offer mini lessons in a flash!
Cramster.com - for math & math-based subjects like calculus, statistics, chemistry and engineering. As the name implies, students can cram virtually with classmates, or from around the world & pick up pointers from those who are knowledgeable.
evernote.com - Similar to note pad, like it but you can also take a picture with your cell phone & scan material into it and also index groups of information & retrieve it with a key word in the future.
MyCollegeCalendar.org - just tell the wizard what grade a student is in & what college they are considering and it will set up a calendar to adhere to.
Scholar.google.com - checks only scholarly works for reliable information retrieval
TheFreeDictionary.com - with this site you can scan definitions & hear pronounciations free
These are all free websites - There are others in the article that I can't list here as they are commercial and are not permitted to be shown on DS. This is an older publication so there may be more resources that are online besides.
I am also a literacy instructor in regular and English second language & can provide some tutoring (somewhat limited) for free just bec I want to help you get ahead if I can.
(But now, don't be holdin me to that high standard if I wish to be speakin conversationally as I am apt to do from time to time!)

If you do purchase them you can sell them back online. I usually go to MyBookBuyer. They pay the shipping and provide labels that you can print, all you need is an, envelope or box. The return on a book varies, some they refuse, it a matter of supply and demand but always worth a few minutes to check. I sometimes get more than I paid for the book.
Also, if like me you're in a small major see if your class mates want to swap books. Many of my classmates and I take the same classes during different semesters so we can swap books. If I can't sell a book but it's still being used I offer it to the instructor for students who can't afford it otherwise, I do that for all my classes. There's usually someone who can use it.
