I've never sold anything door to door, not even when I was in school and they'd have one of those fund raiser things going on. My mom was never keen on the idea of letting me or my brother do that. Odd how she grew up in a city and was allowed to go all over the place by herself but my brother and I growing up in a more rural area (that area has since built up but it's still largely suburban) she was far less trusting with letting us wander and roam, but such were the times we lived in I guess.

I've never personally bought anything from a door-to-door salesperson, but when I was younger my dad did buy these encyclopedia type books called "The Volume Library" which were 2 massive books with a ton of subjects in them...he figured my brother and I could use them for school. I used them a lot for reference material; my brother not so much. I actually found them to be quite interesting and would read through them like the nerd I am. I don't have them anymore though; the information in them was a bit dated once I hit college and even though I hung on to them for a while after I eventually realized there was just no need to lug them to a new home when they were out of date.

Oh yeh - I bought the COMPLETE set of Encyclopedia Britannica when my kids were small..I forgot about THAT - TES - They were worth their weight in gold !!

I used to buy Avon............and I was never good at door to door, I am not good at sales
I also was leery of going to door to door, never know who may answer that door, also did not let my daughter go door to door for school fund raisers, for same reason, sad to say that now a days or back then it did not seem safe to go door to door

I never did no door to door sales. had my mom help me by taking it to work. I used to sell tuperware, cutco and that it.

I sold Avon door to door for over 20 years. I don't think I was such a great sales person...I used many of the products and would be enthusiastic over the things I liked...at the same time if I didn't like something I didn't push it. The biggest reason I stayed in it for so long was that I had friends there and I got the products cheaper. Now I buy from an old friend and get things cheaper than when I sold...she is a "good" sales person.

I think most Avon Ladies are their own "Best customer" the reason they are in it to begin with !! I LOVE Avon especially their Gifts and fashions... Unfortanately, I can't wear costume jewelry. i say this bec I think theirs is beautiful ..

At another point in y life, i also sold Amway... I liked the products but I found it difficult to get the product where my sponsor was located ... Good products - Very effective. Worth the extra money. Too few Sale Prices ... NO coupons !

I LOVE to go to sale parties.. Used to use Tupperware's but since I am retired & am no longer am "gainfully employed", I find myself RECYCLING old margarine containers, etc instead..

Lingerie parties are Fun too ! And I have some friends who Love Home Interior parties & Candle parties.

I have my 13 grandchildren's artwork & toys all over my apartment (No room for other decor, except for my "Faith-Wall " & I am not permitted to burn candles here !

not many come to our door,occasionally the vaccuum guys,and roofing people,because of all the wind we have had this year,other than that,none.

I found door to door sales the most brutal way of earning money ever. High voltage work was a snap compared to the rejection and hostility I encountered as a lad trying to get people to subscribe to newspapers. I also tried Cutco Knives, and Rainbow vacuums.

Dread Pirate Roberts would never have survived a year of this work.

Okay, I admit it, I sell Mary Kay! Yes, I am high maintenance. LOL I do not like trying to get my foot in the door with strangers. I do not like trying to get people to host parties or sign up to sell Mary Kay. I do love helping someone realize just how beautiful they are and the quality of the products. I offer catalogs and a website for people and rely on word of mouth. I am really good at applying makeup and help my friends and customers apply makeup that enhances their looks without going overboard. I am also able to do all out glam (drama club and years of practice) for special events.

I also sold Amway for a time. That was interesting but I am not a high pressure sales person. It either sells or it doesn't in my book. ha ha

I occasionally buy Avon and cannot believe all the types of products they offer now. WOW! Impressive. I like candles and will buy from a catalog party. I even buy stuff on late night tv. Silly me! My most outlandish buy was the steam cleaner I bought on late night tv after I was diagnosed with MRSA.

I, too, sold myself Avon for a yr. or so. I learned i'm a better buyer than a seller! LOL! I think the dumbest thing i ever bought was some smelly wax in a tin. You were to put it on your lamp's bulb, and the heat melted it and fragranced the air. It was so strong, i could still smell pine scent from Christmas time at Easter! LOL! Worked...too well!

Shop NBC, QVC, Shop Hsn, they might as well be considered "door-to-door" coz they do go "house-to-house" via TV !

I mainly sell Avon for the Anew products... Some years back, I watched a Barbra Walters show she did on Retinol. Avon's rated higher than even Jean Roc the French counterpart that was considered so great for the amount of Retiiol included in the product. !! The way some creams work is that it irritates your skin so that it swells u p even to your wrinkle - the wrinkle doesn't actually leave,.. the surrounding skin is just higher !

The newest "wrinkle" in wrinkle creams are the ones that work with the body to increase the production of collagen to actually build up the skin from within ! These work slower but actually are more effective.

Reelin I actually have the lamp rims that you place over the bulb to pour the perfumed oil into but, as you reflected, it is difficult to control how MUCH degree of the smell you are gonna get ! And the new fleuerescent coiled bulbs do not heat up hot enough to scent anything !

I have never sold a product that I didn't endorse.. I once quit a corporation that sold 'business directories' to other businesses in one afternoon after realizing what a "crappy product it was" !
