Exactly, like when we became friends a while back, and it came out through our conversations that we attend different Church organizations, i believe your response to me was (Well to each his own) and we went on being friends from that day on.

Yes.KL and NDY, we need to have civil discussions about things that matter to our country, not to our party. It could start here.

I do have to say that in the War &Terrorism forum, some people get very nasty - not sure why. I tend to want to blame the Republicans :) but it is both sides, I'm sure.

I am very happy that this group has been started and I'm sure everyone can stay civil.

I tend to blame Dems, but I think it's really "Anyone who is elected", that goes to the core of the issue. Greed. Say and do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get RE-elected. Never mind that you were elected TO SERVE. Somewhere along the campaign trail THAT little feature gets lost.

I think we need to make a list. Here is what we want the fed govt to do.
1. Highways
2. Military
3. Border Security (Might be a function of #2.)
4. SOME Regulation (FDA, USDA, etc.)

Then assign a cost to these things, and tax people acordingly. Then get the hell out of everything else. Personally, I doubt they will even be able to handle THESE few, but I KNOW they can't handle all the crap they're into now, like Automotive, Healthcare, etc.

Then we take it to the state level, and do the same thing. Police, Fire, etc.
Then to the city/viliage/town/etc. Education, civil ordinances, etc.

I know it will take more than my lifetime to get there, but we have to start. If we don't, we'll be 1950's Russia in less the 3 decades.

I am of the opinion (I am not for SURE of that right at this point any more in This country!) THAT I have a RIGHT to my opinion, (in a thoughtful but respectful manner, and EVEN in the spirit of friendly disagreement) on Over The Fence regardless of general consensus. Be it Party or otherwise I may choose my own theme even if that proves to be an unpopular choice.

Also, It has been suggested to me by others that perhaps we need a third party. That BOTH the Republican and the Democratic Parties are so corrupted and just plain "screwed up" that they need another contender in the mix. But DON"T we already have that? It is called the Independent Party and has been in existence for some time. (I am sure someone who enjoys Google can establish when & for how long the Independent Party has existed and as well as the ORIGINAL reason WHY).. I am interested in hearing YOUR opinions on this ...

Furthermore tG, I am in agreement that our country's infrastructure and physical boundaries SUCK big time but I would take that even further to idealistic boundaries. I think the old adage, "Charity begins at home..." would do well to be heard by our Executive and Legislative Branches of government to "take care of our OWN " before we start rebuilding other countries...

The Tea party is NOT a party, but a conservative movement. Modled after the one in the Boston Harbor so many years ago. A fed up people with no recourse but to rebel against high taxes and little to show for it. Against a gov't that was so out of touch with the people that the people showed it who was boss. It's about to happen again folks, I hope you are all ready.

Yes, NDY charity DOES begin at home, but there are also a lot of lazy charity sucking @$$%()!'s right here at home that need a rude awakening. I'm not sure this country is ready for Ben Rains, but I think we need him.
