NOW folks go to Arizona every year to see brother, I have never seen his house! shame on me, I am going this year, used to resist going? I don't know why? I guess I did not feel like being in car with folks for 10 hour drive, did not feel like all the endless chit chat, feel different now.

it is very informal, they go to separate places-folks to friends in Casa Grande, brother- girlfriend to GF's moms
they get together for a few meals, hang out rest of time

My family gathers every year at Thanksgiving at my house and we usually eat at around 1:00 or 1:30. Everyone always fixes the same dishes every year, it's the tradition. Then ofcourse we watch football! Okay, maybe not everybody........ I ignore the ones who don't and watch football..... they clean the kitchen up.. Isn't that a great plan? LOL

kidding y'all. I help clean my own kitchen up before I ignore everyone and watch football. It's my house, so I figure it's my right. I'm a little obsessed with football for those of you who don't know that. I will however socialize during the commercials and halftime.

( I hope y'all know I'm half kidding.........) My family is used to it after all these years. They must not mind, cause they keep showing up every year! I think I got off topic.

I think what we do would actually have to be called Thanksgiving lunch not dinner. It's not even based on the football games going on either...We used to get together around noon and eat around 1pm...but over the last few years those times have been pushed up because I have an uncle who is on quite a bit of medication for various medical problems and he has to be able to take his meds with food and because my aunt keeps such a crazy daily schedule (they literally eat their dinner by noon) we've had to adjust to accommodate them or they wouldn't come and my mom feels obligated to have her sister over. So now we gather at 11:30 and we eat by noon and my aunt and uncle are in their car and heading home no later than 2 pm (and that's pushing it). Sometimes we don't even have dessert out before they're getting up to leave which seems a bit rude to me but no one can say that to her because she'll just retort that he gets moody due to his meds or something equally crazy. One plus to them leaving early - extra leftovers, which we generally wind up digging into later that night when we're looking for something to eat for dinner but don't want to actually fix something different for dinner.

It's worse when my aunt insists on doing Christmas...she always wants us there no later than 11 and dinner's on the table within 15 minutes of getting there. I can't eat dinner before I would naturally eat lunch but that's not that big of a problem when we go there anyway because her food is terrible anyway so it's usually good for me that I'm still digesting breakfast when I get there.

THERE are my 3 REGULAR Guests that I can ALWAYS count on to be on time and NEVER keep me waiting !
They are THE MOST WONDERFUL GUESTS IN THE WHOLE - WIDE - WORLD - Me, Myself & I !!

And WE EAT whenever we DARN WELL PLEASE & usually PICK at the Turkey the REST of the Day !!
