I prefer to head for the bar, so when the room starts spinning, eveything will seem normal.

Actually, we were taught to go to an interior room or hallway. The smaller the better, as it provides more structural support. But in a more than 2 story bldg, I'd probably opt for the wide open spaces of a field or such. I grew up in So. Cal, and they just don't seem to scare me any more. Now I live in the midwest and tornados really freak me out. Go figure. LOL

lots of conversation about this in oklahoma lately :) I heard right beside your bed or desk etc. so that if the roof falls it will give you that little triangle of space. Don't know if it's right.

I'm writing all this down.

Green, I heard the triangle theory too...I heard get next to a couch or bed and lay next to it but not on it that way if debris falls it will likely be supported by the large piece of furniture next to you and give you a pocket of space to keep you safe till it ends and someone can fish you out - when I heard it they said specifically to be next to a heavy, hard to move piece of furniture so the debris won't move it out of the way or break it and then give you no safety. I would've thought I was surely wrong about that since I've never been through an earthquake myself, but since someone else mentioned it first, I'm thinking I'm not so off after all.
