Come to vent about your gender and how frustrating it is. Ask and answer questions from people who identify and are questioning a nonbinary or gender non-conforming label.
Hello, my name is Shady. I'm a nonbinary person who uses they/them pronouns. However some people don't understand that using other pronouns makes me very uncomfortable and sometimes even unsafe. I have been out for a few years now but my family is still struggling to use they/them. My dad is trying though, so that makes me happy.
Most of the time people who are really open to using my pronouns are the same age or younger than me. Maybe there is some corolation between age and open mindedness...
I've been trying to correct people and I even have a pin that I where that says they/them but sometimes people just ignore it. And sometimes I'm just too tired to deal with it. It's fine if it's a one time interaction, say at a resturant but it's diffrent when it's a new friend that you'll be seeing for a while.
Regardless I have to keep trying to be heard and be respected!
