Hi I had to have my abdominal muscles removed about 18 years ago. At one point my dr did do a surgery, to try to help correct as much as possible some of the problems, like how all your intestines just seem to drop down into the empty space. He described it as a reverse hernia. He said sometimes they use a piece of heavy mesh that holds the intestines back in place. Unfortunately in my case, I have keloid scarring and he was afraid it would become a big wall of scar tissue with possibility of attaching to intestines and lots of serious problems. So he put a small band that he attached (somehow) to I believe hip bones. First surgery didn't work. So he tried again a month later and it worked. At least for awhile. But after about a year it gave way. It's difficult not to put pressure on the abdominal area. But I refuse to not lift anything over 10 lbs or try to just live like I always did before. One thing that helped me was wearing a girdle. At least I felt some support, and not like all my intestines were going to fall out. Maybe this surgery could work for some of you. You would need to see a plastic surgeon.
