Sorry, you lost me.

Sorry, I shouldn't post when it is past my bed time. Have you ever met someone who said something foolish to you like, "I have this scar on my neck. That is why I never cut my hair short."? You look and they have what looks like a cat scratch on their neck. That is a simple example but you get the drift. I tink to myself, I would take 10 of those scars on over the 500 bumps on my body. There are more examples, some more extreme but that is the basics. What are you willing to trade, how far would you go? I think I am a better person compassion wise because of my NF. Would I be a jerk, a womanizer, or would I still be who I am today?

I have asked this question before, an I wont be cryptic.
Basically, NF sucks but so does being blind, deaf, mute,
unable to walk, etc. What would you trade in return?
Would yoiu rather be blind? NO, Deaf? NO, unable
to walk? Well, maybe. We have all Fantasized in that
respect. Or have wished... Bottom line though, we
have to play with the cards that we are dealt.
Everyone wants to go to Heaven, but no one wants to die.
If we knew for a fact, that when we died we would have
everlasting life in heaven would we end our life now?
A round of golf is a few hours, A few lines of bowling
takes about an hour. but our life, equated to an
eternity is a mere blink of an eye. This life as we know
it is just temporary, sure it sucks, it could be better,
but when the game is over ,and you beam up, a new life
will begin. a life where everyhone is equal. If only I
knew for sure. What would I do? So, yes, those
who are dealt NF life can be unfair, we are in the minority
but when the game is over,. We will all be the same. We
Weill all be equal. This life we have lived, four score and
seven, is just an inconvenience, a bad dream, a dream that
will ... well.. pausing here..... thinking.... I believe I have
said enough.... some times I ramble... If I were to page back
and read what I said I would wipe it out and cancel this. I
have before, many a time... This time I will just hit send

In middle school i was dx w/ scoliosis... kids teased me for it... I had a girl one time in choir come to me in front of the whole class and say in a tone... "What's wrong with your back?" i told her I had scoliosis and she then pats me on the back and says "I have scoliosis too in my knee".Now I dont know wht the intentions were but it ticked me off slightly.I had a guy one time in a bar ask wht the bump on my hand was..i told him and then he says "Yeh i had a bump on my shoulder from a sporting event" I seriously do think sometimes I would rather be the most unstable psychopath than have these bumps.i would even take my right shoulder a bit more crooked from the scoli than have bumps... but I know its only wishing and not reality.. i feel like next time someone makes a snide comment just look at them and say "you have no idea do you" I am also gonna design a bumper sticker for NF awareness and tis eve I finally wrote Maury and told him via email how NF affects people,the stares we get,the faux dx's saying we have elephantitus,and how its hard to find a dr for myself tht will take me since no drs in town take nf patients and the ones who do are out of town andm y insurance refuses to pay since pre-existing conditions.. im tired of being meek its time i be fiesty and let the world know tht nf isnt contagious to stop staring make snide remarks and tht i deserve to be treated like a human being not a circus freak.

You Go Lanafairy! As far as the trade, what really sucks is with NF we could very well loose our hearing, our vision, our ability to walk and our lives! I don't know of any aspect of our lives that this condition couldn't potentially take from us. It could take away our ability to work. I was lucky, I married before the NF really took hold, so he loves me for who I am. But appearance counts, you can't discount that. It appears to me that many of us suffer from depression. I would love to see the statistics on that. Anyway, the point is, "the trade" is like asking, would you like to be decapitated or shot.

Oh, and I am so glad I understand now, becase my dirty mind immediately went places it shouldn't have when I read your first post. lol.

LoL Marah, I was confused by it myself... but I wonder tht myself about the statistics of depression in those with NF compared to those with out it.A few have told me "At least you're not in a wheel chair" little they know it cld happen... NF does as it wants..no matter how healthy or active you are.I have cystic fibrosi and scoliosis with my NF so when people tell me to stop whinning and man up i just tell them they have no idea what it's like to have NF and they shld do their homework and just maybe they cld see the pain Im really in.I use to be meek and mousey but this month Ive decided to man up alright and tht is to teach ignorant peons what I have and tht they too have tht chance of gene mutation happening to their offspring... Karma does work tht way.Or maybe I will scare them and tell them Im a witch and will put a hex on their future childrens children or something.. Their is this guy who wors at Walmart and he looks like he cld have NF and everytime I see him people are afraid to go through his check out lane.. I always do and i always smile at him and be polite.Im one to not make fun of people for what they cannot control I make fun of the people with bad attitudes who make fun of them.i will find something about them to bring them down.Like what my ex hubby told me to say next time Im in a boutique and the sales girls are making fun of me for my NF.. "I may be covered in bumps but at least Im not working some part time job in the mall and harrassing customers...I get to go home tonight to a man who lets me stay home and shop in YOUR store" and then proceed to purchase something pricey.
