I've heard a lot of people talking about propolis, but I'm not sure if I've heard anything about a particular brand. I recently read this article on Reggie Bibbs' website

You can buy propolis in a health food store. I tried it for a while. Didn't do anything for me.

Propolis from a local health food store may not have the same level of active ingredient that is believed to be helpful in NF. The active ingredient called CAPE,caffeic acid phenethyl ester, has inhibitory effects on RAS/PAK. The CAPE content of domestic propolis tested is often just trace. New Zealand propolis has a much higher CAPE content which is the prime reason it was chosen for the original NF study. You can order bio 30 from Manuka Health. I will warn you that shipping is very pricey. While domestic propolis may still have other amazing benefits as far as NF goes I wouldn't count on it to do a thing. You could buy a bottle of the domestic stuff just to verify that you don't have an allergy but other than that I'd save my money. Whether bio 30 helps or not also remains to be seen. You should contact Dr. Maruta for his updated dosage amounts.

Thanks for the link petals. You're absolutely right, I've been researching and US propolis doesn't have high levels of CAPE. They recommend New Zealand propolis and Brazilian Green propolis.

I was able to find the Manuka propolis here and I don't think shipping is expensive since they're in Pennsylvania.

This is why I think you really need to research thoroughly before ordering any product.The bio 30 alcohol free that people doing Dr. Maruta's informal study are using is a liquid. The liquid is probably more likely to have the required liposomes and such that are needed for absorption. I see it on the left hand corner of that site but it is roughly 4X the price of the bio 30 purchased directly from Manuka. The Brazilian is generally only recommended for people who are allergic to the NZ one. The NZ one is far less expensive and appears somewhat more effective.

Petals, any idea about the dosage on the liquid? I tried the liquid once, got it from Raisen Rack. It tasted like battery acid, but if it worked, I would try it again.

Marah, As I mentioned in an earlier post it's specifically the Bio 30 alcohol free from Manuka Health in New Zeland that has been studied in NF. For people who are allergic to that there is the Brazilian Propolis but it is much more expensive. Dr. Maruta is looking at the possibility that for some people the effect may be dose dependent so he is upping the doses. If you are considering it you should write to Dr. Maruta for details on where to start dosage wise.
