Neurofibromatosis is usually noncancerous. There are three types of this condition. Type 1 usually appears in childhood, while Types 2 and 3 appear in early adulthood. Type 1 can cause bone deformities, learning disabilities, and high blood pressure. Type 2 can cause hearing loss, vision loss, and difficulty with balance. A component in red wine solids has been shown to delay the growth of NF tumors but I still wouldn't think regular consumption of alcohol would be a helpful thing at all. You can probably get some of those same ingredients from diet and consumption of green tea. Grape juice might not be a bad choice because it has anti PAK qualities that might be helpful in inhibiting certain cancers that have been linked to RAS.
That's probably an incredibly annoying answer and not what you wanted to hear. Sorry. LOL
Next time I go to a party or out to a club and I think about having too much to drink, I'll think twice. It's now worth making my NF worse.
The article was a bummer for me, because I like to drink. I'll have to find a balance.
back to see the doctor. i have a high liver count and have had it for a very long time. i would take it easy on the drinks and ask for liver function test. also maybe an ultra sound may be needed. good luck. hugs cora
