Neurofibromatosis is usually noncancerous. There are three types of this condition. Type 1 usually appears in childhood, while Types 2 and 3 appear in early adulthood. Type 1 can cause bone deformities, learning disabilities, and high blood pressure. Type 2 can cause hearing loss, vision loss, and difficulty with balance. Type 3 can cause chronic pain throughout the body....
I'm not sure if they'll keep this post up since it links to another website, but yesterday on my website, I proposed a Neurofibromatosis challenge to try to raise awareness and wanted to share it with everyone on here.

Didnt you have surgery in Flordia a while back? I may not be remembering correctly. I think someone was going to post before and after pictures.
Or it may of been the Surgeon in Texas or NY.
I know that the electro-dessication leaves a scab.. So, for example, if
you have a few hundred zapped from your face/neck, I was wondering how long does it take for the scabs to drop off.

Since I\'m starting to get more on my chest and stomoch, it really didn\'t make a noticable difference, but now that I know the doctor is good, I\'ll probably go back and have them all removed and just pay for it myself.
I was extremely happy with the procedure and the doctor.
The spots she did look like cigette burns and even after almost 3 months are still red. The doctor said she really doesn\'t want to do the ones on my face using this method, because it takes so long for the scar to heal and it will leave a small white spot.

I would definitely recommend the surgery. I used to spend so much time worrying and wondering if I\'ll eventually be completely covered in bumps and this surgery is the only thing I know of that gives those of us with NF any hope.

For the laser, it didn\'t really scar, it just looked like I had gotten a sunburn in a few spots on my face. The only warning the doctor gave me was to wear suntan lotion on my face until they heal, because they actually get real dark and never fade if you dont. The ones I had done on my face were kind of interesting. I had some bumps on my face that were under the skin, but when I felt of them, I couldn\'t feel the hard bump that I usually feel on my other bumps. They were just kind of raised areas on the skin Because of this, I figured I would try and see if they could be removed with the laser and it worked on about half of them.
I\'m not too sure how well it would work on ones that are on top of the skin, but since I\'m starting to get more, I\'m sure I\'ll find out soon. I had one removed from my face that was on top of the skin about 3 years ago and the dermatologist just cut it off and cauterized the wound. That one healed perfectly and never grew back.
