Thinking outside the box - a question

If DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is a crime, why is it that I can't have my mother-in-law charged with "aiding and abetting"? Just wondering .... I have too much time on my hands waiting for the divorce (2 years old tomorrow) to be settled ... since he would have HAD TO settle without her financial backing or basically, be a homeless person.
I was somewhat angry because last night, I posted a "humorous" restatement of my daughter's earlier remark to me in order to deal with all the stuff that came up in me.
My younger daughter, who just left college after I spent hundreds at the bookstore, since her FA was not finalized, sent me a text earlier in the day: My grandmother is financially destroyed because of you.You are only happy when you are hurting someone. I am changing my number ...
Now, my mother-in-law, not due to her own efforts, owns a 20 acre farm that she rents out for crop income. She has her bag of gold and whatever all that isn't in the bag. Plus she receives a check every month because her husband worked and earned credits. She did work some jobs here and there, but she has never supported even herself through her own efforts. I have and I spent the first 7 years of my marriage supporting my husband and our children by working full-time, working FT and school FT and FT job, PT job. When I retire, I will NEVER get my husband's check ... ONLY mine (and his would not be higher than mine, so no benefit there). Now normally, the check thing wouldn't bother me AT ALL. I understand that being a wife and mother is WORK, especially if you take it seriously. All the stories I hear is about her whipping everyone (but the oldest, her favorite) with a hairbrush a lot of the time. Taking the children on dumpster forays. How she would push everything back on the dining room table to make room for the mac-n-cheese and hotdogs for supper, again. And how she spent most of her days visiting with neighbors, drinking ice tea, always with two spoons of sugar.
Now, I am not hearing everything and I know that. But I have lived through all this ... she stole the family portrait (that I had to take time off from work to be in) TWICE from our house. I quit trying to get it back. She stole other things, too ... my sister-in-law once brought me a back from a "house cleaning" expedition that contained books of mine, medications and I don't remember what.
I am realizing that she and my husband colluded to prevent me from having more time (when divorced) with our children - I was supposed to have first right of care or whatever it's called. They actually taught the kids to lie and tell me "Daddy is sleeping" every time I called and he was out of state. When I realized that Daddy COULDN'T be sleeping that much, I pressed it lightly once and was told how much time they had been spending, cleaning the house. I left it because I sort of figured what was up.
So this woman, who would basically have next to nothing and really, should consider herself pretty damn blessed, is not only financing my husbands destructive rampage, but I am hearing this kind of crap from my DAUGHTER??!! I grant you, I know it doesn't mean that SHE said it, but my whole point has been the enabling behavior, etc ... IS WHY MY HUSBAND CAN'T "DO" MARRIAGE ... successfully. As much as he claims to despise MOMMIE, he runs to her ... this in no "level playing field", so I think some emotional response on my part is not out of line, but I have been trying to stick with either neurotic or mature defenses. So I posted on my FB page the following (mind you, they have a long standing story of how they are going to have to rent dumpsters to "clean the house" when she dies and then, they will set it afire; and no, they do not say this to her face.)
"So my mother in law has spent 400k at the dollar store and somehow, that is my fault."
(My Comment) Nothing is ever anyone's fault but mine ... I think that is that "scapegoat" thing again, being used to avoid looking into their own lives and failings. Pretty scary when you're too threatened to even step foot into a counselor's office but you like to throw others into enforced treatment ... and make them the "complete problem".

(Sister-in law comment) Dadda, face book is not the place for this.
No, FB is "not the place" Nor is MY LIFE the place for raising hell, stealing and trying to control me. Defy Court orders, unless they are against me. Child snatching my children, screaming at me when I go to sit with father-in-law in hospital, at the request of hospital staff. Or being FORCED (if I am going to stay married) to live 40 miles from a decent sized city, more career and educational options just to keep a promise to MOMMIE, but screw God, me and the children.
I just know that I am getting W-A-Y stressed and tired when my thoughts are: "the lesson in this is that you are developing fortitude to get through even tougher times in future." That is definitely not "positive" outlook and all have breaking point. I went to bed with a horribly severe headache and woke up with it. Finally, it has gone for now. I really hate this, especially how my daughters are so gullible. But I know the Ns want them dumbed down, incapable of thinking critically or applying logic. I haven't tried to get them to "take sides" although I have tried to explain that the divorce is unnecessarily being drawn out and I am being drained as a result, or that there is a spiritual/emotional "sickness" (and yes, I've gotten more specific but not with stellar results) that is causing this. Unfortunately, in past, I got drawn in before I caught on to some of the psychological games and got snippy, especially with days of stonewalling (oh, so effective because of course, the children don't remember Daddy yelling then) and triangulations where he and the children were all "against me" and they were acting out with absolute disrespect. It makes me want to cry, because I said some nasty things when I was a hurting teen and when I finally "got smarter" (understood), I just know how callous it sounds, despite my knowing how I was hurting, too. I hate this ...

I then came home to a half clean house and packed the kids up for a day on the bike trail.. If you still have a bike (I remember some were missing) go for a ride and relax..
Put it away for a couple days. Chill, as my kids would say..
I tried to go -online and make installment pay on the insurance, but even though not due til tomorrow, it shows "paid on 3rd" so I called the company; I am going to see (if it can even be done) if stop pay cheaper than overdrafting. All the money for mine is in there and I was going to pay youngest's (250) with her college money. But that is moot. Oldest - with "new" car basically told me she can't pay it (360) so I told her to give me what she can and will make install pay, which jacks the whole thing up $100. Judgment $5480 in August haven't seen a dime and doubt I will.
I came home and was eating a snack and part of my tooth fell out. Right this minute, I can't take any more. I know I don't deserve this but at same time I know I'm not the only one with problems ... I just never thought that things could look and seem so hopeless when I know I haven't done anything wrong. I trusted the law; I trusted the system. I trusted the church. God, I am stupid. No, just ignorant. I think I just don't trust anymore. I know a lot of my points, the things I've researched out, are right. I know SJRMC (the hospital) is WRONG the way they played CYA and ignored the consequences of the nurse's actions. All I asked them to do was talk with my husband - with me and maybe help to defuse the situation. Not sue, no ... even the complaint said I was asking she get appropriate treatment ... and pay costs, but my God, I wasn't even thinking to press on that because I thought action would occur - there is so much blatant, undisputable truth. Of course, the nurse is in the wrong. End of discussion; I tried to talk with her as a peer (first) she is a liar and screwed up. But I bet she's not sitting at her house crying and with things falling out of her head. Nope. Has a job, husband (well, 2 husbands actually, hers and mine) and her little boy probably doesn't hate her guts. The State of Indiana, for totally ignoring lunatics motivated by gambling fever and provoked by unprofessional nurses. And church leaders - here at least b/c blatant liars, try to get me to go away and one tries to have sex. I feel a bit better to get all that off my chest. Not crying anymore at least.
Here it is raining so no bike ride. Know what really sucks? A year or so ago, I sent in this picture of me dressed in my daughter's clothes for a contest to win a vacation. The picture was taken because I took her to airport to go to Hawaii; her aunt had gotten her 1st class space. I left her there because it's over 100 mile drive and heavy Chicago traffic. I get into traffic jam and she called, crying. They wouldn't let her on the airplane wearing flip flops and miniskirt dress. So I had to "rush" back, not knowing if I'd make it, praying all the way and trying to get through all the traffic jams. I was sprinting up the last flight of stairs to where she was, feeling as if I was getting ready for heart attack and rushed her into the bathroom, where we quickly exchanged clothing and she just made the flight. Then I got to start my return trip back. So the contest was "why I need a vacation". I sent the picture in, thinking the story (especially being true) was pretty good, and I also talked about how I would like to take my daughters on vacation and could not afford, due to divorce. I don't remember which picture won ... but I had hoped. Guess that is why I don't play the lottery.
I guess it really sucks, just because when my daughters throw the FUs at me and they DON'T realize, #1 how much I have tried to get through this peacefully but have little control and #2, the things people do when they DO love (I am not saying I do all of it "right"), it FEELS like being literally torn into two or something. And you can't throw at them what you did or all of what is being (wrongfully) done ... so right this minute, everything feels quite sucky. I do wish I could forget it all ... for a few days ... and it will work out, but I am not even any kind of fun person to be around anymore and THAT probably sucks the most!
Thank you and you are sounding more chipper than me for the moment and I HOPE and PRAY it lasts! Something will "break" in all this and might seem harsh to me at the time, but not too much worse than being stuck with only no hope or false to "console".
There will be a better day ...
I hope that my comments did not strike a bad cord with you. I know that you and I could bo back and forth right now and both learn something, both trigger things in the other and both (hopefully) find comfort that we are not alone in this long awful struggle we are in.
I am promising myself right now that as of this e-mail I am not even going to check this site for a couple of says. I have my family coming up tomorrow, I have a 3 day weekend with kids. I have things I really need to get done. I need to let my brain rest. I am tired thinking and feeling. What I would love is for someone to just walk through my front door wrap their arms around me and tell me that it is all going to be OK. What I have is me, going in to crawl into bed with my youngest. SHe will wrap her arms around me and say "I am glad I got stuck with you"
I wish you still had that. Not looking forward to them all growing up in this mess.. dadda, I will pray for peace to come over you, a clear picture of what you should do.
I hope you have a great time with your weekend and kids. You deserve that, and more, so make the most of it. One of the things I would use on myself and family, when things were getting moody and temperamental was "these are the memories we are making that will last the rest of all of our lives ... are these the ones you want to leave behind?" I would just leave everyone alone for a bit and usually, it seemed either the space, reminder or both helped bring everyone back together. Wish I knew one for now! But seriously, have fun and a nice time and relax from the stresses in your own world and definitely, outside. That's also one thing "caring professionals" have to do: make sure to get away and defuse from all the trauma ... they do get secondarily traumatized and have to be careful! See you when you get back and will be thinking about the ice caps!! Hugs, dadda
